Now, I don't have the money yet but I will spend around 5K - 8K on a mental conversion. I am considering something, well different 8)
idea 1 - A BMW powered lump using the 330 not sure if it is possible or what costs are, but sounds good.
idea 2 - A Scooby Impretza Lump turbo'd and fast as feck.
idea 3 - A RS4 Lump, stonkingly kwik!
Ok, it all comes down to money and I am sure it will take me 2 years to do save something decent, but I have set up a fund for the job.
Dizzie has inspired me to do something different.
-
Yup a crazy idea ! ;) I might be wrong but I'd say it's gonna cost you more than 8k to go for any of those options if they are at all feasible in the first place. Good luck though matey ;D
-
there was a mk1 golf with impreza running gear on ebay about 5mths ago - was pretty mad looking
-
Do a vr6 turbo, very very fast :D
-
nah vr6's are to common in a mk2, see about a w8 or something audi and supercharged.
what about a twin turbo pdi50 diesel???
-
The 3.2 VR6 will fit in a mk2 :D
-
out of the r32? yeah i saw it at inters! wouldnt that affect handling cos of the MASSIVE weight tho?
-
No, the new vr6s are aluminium, so much lighter than the old cast iron blocks.
;)
-
oh right! that would be an interesting conversion. turbo r32! :o
-
Yeah!
Without a turbo, the engine would be good for 300bhp with a few mods and a chip ;)
-
that would be quite mad thru the front wheels, you would need some sort of traction control! ;D
-
i would think so!
i dont think dizzie has got any traction control, nice and safe :D
-
maybe he has loads of tyres lying around ;D
-
Martz my man :-*
go for the s4 engine,
fantastic conversion to do
mid engined rear wheeled drive beast :o
randomjord picked up a good s4 engine for about ?700 bar :o :D
quality ;)
plus the engine is vag,
rear wheel drive or maybe even g60 synchro running gear.
man, you may struggle to get all that for 8k tho ???
did you get the golf+ magazine with the mk2vr6 turbo on the front cover?
the people who did that conversion should be your 1st port of call when trying to get the job done :)
looked excellent, cos the engine is heavy then mid engine + rear whell drive= lodsa f**kin fun! :D :D :D
-
what colour was the golf vr6 jobby marcus??? if it was a blacky/burgandy mk2 with supercharged vr6 lump in the back with a alloy roll cage and fuel tank in the front, it was done by a local specialist 10 miles form me house!! hes listed in 'good guys' list 'andy waters garage, horncastle lincs' i kno wits been mag featured somewhere and this maybe it as its not long been finished and what a piece of kit it is!!

the r32 only just fitted in the mk2 bay, i dont think theres any chance of fitting a turbo in there as well ???
i want to see a turbo diesel in a mk2, all that torque could be fun :D

-

mid engined bad boy!
:D
-
The S3 is the 1.8T engine tuned up.
The S4 is a 2.7L bi-turbo.
-
sorry to correct ya here 6 :D
but the s4 engine is a 4.2v8 lump,
340 bhp on tap,
you meen the old s4 engine ;)
-
but which s4 do ya meen in the 1st place martz?
there is 2 diifrent ones, ???
turbo and a v8 :D
either would be cool as f**k in mk2 :D 8)
dont put an impreza ebgine in it tho that would be a sick combo :-X :-X
-
m3 lump would be cool 8)
any top performance vag engine would be bang on tho i think martz,

a m3 conversion wouldnt be that hard to be honest!!, get a crash damaged m3, transfer the drive tunnel to the mk2 along with a shortened prorpshaft and a few other mods, easy matey if i had the psace id consider as the m3 rocks (pref the 6 cylinder jobby from the e36 (pref evo with 6 speed box!!)
