Erm given what i was offered for my standard gti 2006 55 25k by my local dealers, id say about £9000 maybe
-
Ridiculously £9000 seems about right as a trade in price, say £10.5k privately? I am suffering the same pain, motorpoint offered me £9.5k against one of their £17.5k 08 r32s.

£10-11k

.......and to think what I paid last March
-
Part ex price with that mileage is £9k. The price will vary depending on what your buying.
Private sale price would be between £10k and £11. The cars are getting to a point where its not worth selling them unless you have to...
-
Dont worry, the manufacturers are slowing production on new cars to bring the used market up. It wont help the current lot but newer cars should slow!
-
Just curious?
Why are you selling up KBB?
You fancying an upgrade?
-
Its the wifes motor, and she wants to go back to a Beamer, simple as that I'm afraid
-
Ouch!
It will be a painful experience changing to a beemer. Even more so if you PX the GTI.
-
At least you have some good options to help the sale.
-
Not really, all that counts is cost to change. Prices are so depleted in the market, there are some really great spec motors taking huge drops in the 1st year, so its relative really. As long as you don't get hung up by set values and just look at the overall cost to change, then the deal can make sense.
At present big engined motors are getting slaughtered, so if you don't do mileage where fuel costs are a concern, then there are some tasty deals available.

like RS4's for under 30k
-
Yep great prices, but it's for the wife, and I prefer my M3 to an RS4
-
feeling your pain mate i would hate to be selling at the mo.
lucky for me i,m buying and thats almost exactly what im looking for!
good luck for the 11k!
matsu

if you can id say keep it...
ive thought about selling/partx mine loads of times after thinking long and hard im just gonna keep it
its my way of escaping the city, fast!
-
Thanks for the suggestions. Pricing is somewhere I thought it would be from a px/ex value to a private sale.
Looking at the various sale sites, its got a high spec, low mileage, and advantage of VAG extended warranty, not seen many others with that package, so will punt it out and see if it gets any interest.
Its going to go, just got to picture it up and get it advertised.

Hey,
My Dad may be interested if you wanna drop him a line John@symesmini.com

Not alot I'm afraid bud! Toyed with the idea of the older GTIs but fancied the Pirelli, so had to pay premium!
-
Now sold, thanks for the comments guys
-
Yep great prices, but it's for the wife, and I prefer my M3 to an RS4
Have you actually driven an RS4 in anger - wet or dry? The driving dynamics of the RS4 really are a step above any M3. The only time an M3 could better an RS4 is on a track - and only if it is bone dry.
-
Yep, and great you prefer yer RS, but I prefer the M3, so thats where my money went. Thats the great thing about choice I guess.
-
Well done on getting your car sold so quickly.
do you mind if i ask what the successul medium for selling was? ie Autotrader, pistonheads etc?
Thanks
-
Thanks, Pistonheads premium advert for £7, went in 24 hours. Put it on as a free ad, but was page 5, so upgraded to premium and was at top of list.
Had 2 e mail offers subject to seeing the car, several phone calls, plus the eventual buyer, who came over next morning to view.
Really pleased with the interest it got from the ad.
Just tried to be realistic with price against other sellers, and priced it to sell.

Well Guys and Girls, VDubb ownership ends tomorrow, when my (well the wifes) GTI will have a proud new owner, spent 2 hours clearing the snow off it today ready for the handover ceremony.
I have enjoyed the last 2 1/2 years bantering and debating away on here, I think I'll stick around as an 'outsider', as it's an enjoyable read on here, and may stick my oar in, if I think I can add value.
Drive safe all

saw this while browsing PH, perfect spec for what i'm looking for, dsg, leather etc etc.
what have you replaced it with?
-
A 325D MSport Touring, its what the wife wanted this time.
-
If you had saved up the equivalent of £20,000 to buy a GTI in Zimbabwe in Feb last year, but had held off ordering until now you would have the equivalent of 1p left in the bank. Enough for a fruit salad or black jack.
