Title: Installing an amp in 6N Polo
Post by: T_J_G on 17 January 2009, 13:47
Right,

doing this for a mate, connected everything up and the amplifier has no power to it, so I'm sure that it's something to do with the blue remote lead. I have taken it off between the ISO connecter adapter between the cars loom and the stereo loom. Is this the right place? All the power and ground cable are secure and it should be getting power.

Another thing when then headunit is turned off it loses all it's meory, how can I sort this?

Thanks

check all the wires again for the amp....

to solve the headunit problem, you need to change the permanent live and ignition live over. usually the yellow and red wires

Thanks

Got power to the amp in the end but nothing through the sub.

With his amp we had very slight volume to the sub, but when I used my older amp we would have power but no sound..:s

hi,

subs could be faulty or the wires in the subs av cum loose, check them again, blue remote wire should go to the HU Remote this turns amp on or off when the hu is turned on or off. check the phono cables make sure they not creased (bent) are you getting sound from ur take n the door speakers? check the settings on the tape all tapes av difrent types of seetings so does the amp look at the manual. best bet!

Do you have/or can you get a multimeter?

This could be the problem though it seems we get power but no sound:S checked all leads. Can get a multimeter. Don't get much time when my mate and I are around at the same time to sort it!

I know this is stupid but check the fuse for the amp POSITIVE (RED +) its a simple but a big missout. and check the fuse on the amp as some amps have their fuses. as mine has 3

Checked fuse in amp, on one amp the power came on then went again a second later and the second amp had power all the time.
