Hi all,
I have an 06 plate mk5 Gti. It has a Telephone Preparation (plastic phone thingy) on the dash, to the left of the stereo. Don't know if this was factory or dealer fit.
By all accounts you have to buy a cradle that fits your phone to the attach to the (plastic phone thingy) which will hold/connect the phone through the MF steering wheel.
So, to get to the point...the dealers are quoting in the region of £ 120 for this cradle, which sounds crazy. Anyone know of where i could pick these up rather than the dealers. The fact they quote £120 would suggest i could probably get it for £60 elsewhere
cheers all..

Not sure about the cradle but it cost me about £80 to have them remove the kit and replace the trim with a new piece (as it leaves some big holes) so £120 isnt nuts if it makes it usable, they didnt support the crackberry which is why i had it removed

Cheers,
just seems crap in that you have and 'extra' on the car which you then need to spend more to make is usable !!
Add to that, the chances are people have more that 1 phone (work/personal) and they may get changed fairly often, seem a pricey way to get hands free.
I did think of getting it taken out but it's another extra when selling it.
Maybe some blutac is way forward

Talk to VRstu....I believe he can, or at least used to provide a kit/ install it for you...not the cheapest option perhaps but more OEM cos it goes through the stereo I think.

I had one of these kits in my car when I bought it. I got the cradle for my phone thrown in as part of the deal.
About 6 months later I got given a phone for work which VW didn't, (and still don't), supply a cradle for.
I removed the kit myself and installed one of vRStu's bluetooth kits. I got a replacement glovebox/trim off eBay to replace the bit of dash where the cradle went.
