Title: Anyone have any Starter Motor Issues?
Post by: Drewcole on 16 January 2009, 11:04

Drove the car fine the other day and parked up, When I got back to it there was just a loud click (only one click) and then nothing... it was coming from around the starter motor area so assume it that.
I was told to look at the wires etc on it as one could be loose? When I got it started by sticking jump leads on and knocking the starter motor.. got home parked up, when I tried it later on it started fine..?

That was a week ago.. when it happened I nearly just dumped the car as I am fed up with it breaking all the time and costing loads. But now i'm not sure weather I should carry on and do the coilovers and discs and keep her running....  :undecided:

My starter runs on when engaged, its always done it. Take it off, and clean it with brake cleaner then refit it. They get full of dust from the clutch etc.

it could be the battery is knackered and not got enough power to turn over the starter or it could be the alternater not charging the battery  causing the battery to go flat and again not enough life to turn engine over or could be starter needs cleaning or needs replacing .
