Have myself a little 2lt 8 valve mk 3.. wonderin if anyone could advise me on how to get more power from it. got it fully tuned recently which made alot of difference it had a little miss when i bought it.
Help greatly appreciated
cheers paddy

Not alot on them mate just the usual exhaust and induction sorted could get a cam but aint really worth spending loads tuning that
-
I agree....exhaust and filter is best you can do.
(if you have ££ then you can go for cam's,head work etc but spending £2000 will only give you about 15bhp!).. Some people here are looking at superchargers for the 8v and I guess you'll get 160bhp if you are good with making things?
-
ditch the stock ECU, fit somethign mappabale
then you can start maodifyign the enigne, boost is cheepest way if want more than 30 extra ponies
-
as boneybradley mentioned above, get some head work done, a standalone ecu, and some weight saving, that would be your best option, unless you get a few quid for super charger or turbo conversion in which case the skys the limit
-
Add eight more valves :nerd:
-
8 more valves, and the right turbo  is the true path to enlightenment

ok ok lads iv gota 8v anni (p reg) n i blew my m8 hu had 16v he couldnt catch me n thats with stainless back box removed rear silence so str8 pipe from cat to bk box n a direct air intake from under fog lyt on a standard air box :smug: n thats all. his was standard n i fort that 16vs wer more faster on long runs, but i had a bass box in the back to n my rear suspension is mashers. but ye 16v stick a turbo on it n ur happy

the 2ltr 16v in the mk3 is one hell of a good engine, if you blew that off in an 8 valve his engine is very ill.

I dont see why people bother with this, its just beyond me. Why shell out loads of money on a SC to get 160bhp when you could just sell the, imo, gutless 8v and get a 16v with 150bhp ? Makes no sense. Do the usual jigery poke on the 16v and you have yourself a reasonably quick car.
-
Buy something else.
-
Agreed Slick. 1st rule of tuning - if you wanna build a fast car, start with a quick one in the first place...
PS I drive an 8v Mk3 but I'm not into tuning. Still want more poooowwwwwwwwwerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr though!
-
everyone with a mk3 8v NEEDS more power
-
1.8t conversion, costs about 4grand but soo sickkk

Point. I dunno, its a nice dream but 4k is a lot of money to spend on it. Although if an engine comes up, it might get added to my collection, with the tt comps and various mk3 parts, hah!
-
conversion for 4k or a mk4 for 3k.. hmmm

exactly, but i prefer my mk3 to the mk4... i dunno. I will probs just stay on plan and get a mk3 16v. If i can eventually find a 3 door black that meets my requirements, eg no dents n rust!
