I have been scouting for new replacement seats recently and today i won a set of MKV GTI seats now the fun bit modding begins modding them in.
Has anyone here fitted non mk2/3 seats to the their mk2.I am thinking i will need to cut out the triangular shape mount for the fronts to allow the mk5's to sit on the floor and then weld the runners in.

I have mk4 seats in my mk2, went to the scrapyard with a generator and grinder/drill and removed every seat mounting front and rear, chopped off the triangular bit at the front and welded the mk4 mount up, chopped and moved the runner legs to make them fit the mk2 and bobs your mothers brother, mk2 seatbelt clips into the mk4 seatbelt holder as well.

Hi Mate,
I was looking at putting mk5 seats in my mk2, there is a guy on edition 38 (called chunkeymonkey003) who has is in the process of doing it and was happy to help out - also, search on the mk2 section of Ed38 for "what rear benches fit mk2" or something like that as there are a couple of photos. Seems the rear is easier than the fronts...
I ended up getting an edition one interior instead of the mk5. It came from worcester and I used Paisley Freight as the courier, they picked up yesterday and delivered to my parents place near Lanark at lunch time today. They charged me the grand total of £45 door to door for front and rear seats and door cards
Won't see the seats until tomorrow when I drop by, but my sis tells me they arrived ok
Hope that helps you out
Ian
