spent yesterday trying to get parts for a vw passat. spoke to my local main dealer in brighton they couldnt be bothered to answer the phone when they did they seemed not to care. last time i went there in person they pretended i was not there spent 10 minutes hanging aroung then someone said parts is closed and walked off before i could reply.
went to hayward heath vw was left sitting around for 45 minutes as they said they would look at car to see if a cable was fitted which they said was in stock over phone but when got there it was not in stock. after the 45 minutes of waiting we went to service and she looked surprised we had not got bored and buggered off which is what they seemed to want us to do anyway as we were not buying a car from them. both dealers were caffryns. both were snobby.
when i used to have a bmw 740 my main dealer would bend over backwards to help often persuing the problem when i had lost interest.
are all vw dealers uninterested if not does someone know a good one near brighton

Not all VW parts departments are crap.
Colbournes in Woking are brilliant.

I'll second that about Whites of Camberley..........they are absolutely useless. Last time I ordered a part through them, they called me to let me know it had arrived, I went to pick it up and waited 30 minutes for them to find it! Whilst waiting the staff were having a huge argument with one of their managers as to why their productivity and morale was so poor and why was Martins of Basingstoke out performing them hand over fist! I couldn't believe they did this right in front of their customers.
Since then my Dad needed a technician to check his Audi A6 TDI which turned out to have a MAF sensor problem. Whites couldn't look at it for a week.........Martins took the car out straight away and diagnosed the problem, part ordered and fitted the next day.
Needless to say I don't use Whites of Camberley anymore ;)

VAG counter in Espom is pretty good. They get things right most times, my Golf is right on the line of the 88 change over, and everytime they've got it wrong, they've been more than happy to reorder the right part.

VW in Hayes are very good. Parts a great, all are enthusiasts
Heathrow are crap - fault on the Passat they could work it out, took to Woking - Sorted! 8) It was losing accelaration at high speed (70MPH +) and disabling the accelarator, which sh1t me when it first happened.

I can beat this one! Theres a VW garage near R-tec in St-Albens
I took my dub in there when my mum took her Bora back for a service, I was due to have a Oil change there. I drove the car around the back and some your lad came out and said:
"Sorry mate, We only do VWs here, I dont know what they where on down front desk, But we dont know anything about Astras here"
I was too stunned to point out it was a Mk2 golf :o

15 years ago Martins were very good in Basingstoke, and also were there other other garage in Andover. (My car was bought from them in Basingstoke 15 years ago). Judging by what you say, they still are!
Salisbury aren't great. You have to speak to the older guys to get help, the new people don't have a clue! And they all say different things!! ???
-
VW Breeze in bournemouth/poole have always been very helpful to me...........but then again i am an outragous flirt.........that doesn't help all you strapping young men out there....but u never know.....some of them may bat for the other side???
-
stanwells at boston in lincs are good, the other local ones (dixons at louth, and lincoln vw are not too good!!! louth especially!!)

thats got to be some kind of crazy world record rite? :D

Sidlow VW in Horsham, West Sussex are good for service and work although they expect handsome reward for it (i have never needed anything particularly tough diagnosed though). Their parts department is slow to identify the parts you need but when they do the correct parts always arrive quickly. And they have always valeted my car no matter what it's in for.
