Title: Changing rear bulbs
Post by: rheady on 13 January 2009, 13:00
I would just like to say what a pain in the arse it is to take out the rear light bulbs. And on removing the cluster it just touched the boot light and blue a fuse. I then had no internal lights or remote locking. After checking the fuses I found it was Fuse 14, small 10A fuse. I will take out the boot light before fitting a rear bulb in the future. Just happy it was only 30p to fix.

I thought the other day how easy the NS bulbs were to change compared to my other car.  Needed to do a brake and reverse light, only the bulb holder board itself needs to come out?

Yeah unclipped it but had fart about trying to slide the holder out to take the bulb out.

I'm looking forward to the fronts.  The Megane ones are insane.  It's often easier to take the whole front bumper off.

There looks like a load of room though!  Mind you, bumper is coming off to be changed for a new re-painted one soon.

i changed a rear light bulb on my golf on sunday and the holders come out fine if you take the wiring plug off first and then unclip the holder. then just slides out. I did pull the carpet back to give more access.

What i would like to know though is i only have a fog light working on the drivers side but there is a bulb on the passenger side where the fog light would be but it doesnt work.

Do golfs only have 1 fog light at the rear? if not then may have a problem as i tried another bulb and it still didnt work.

Normal mk4 golf only has one fog light although it has all the wiring for two

If the wiring is there for 2 rear fogs, how come sticking a bulb in don't work?

cheers for that Rich. Just a case of running wire across from the other side then and all will be working.
Hopefully wont effect any MOT laws or owt
