Hi Guys,
I have a MK 1989(90spec) 16v Golf that has factory fit heated seats but they don't seem to work. Does anyone know what i need to check? Do the switches go wrong? Do they have a relay?

go to the back of the seat
see if there is wires to the seat heater pad
check feed and ground there
if there is , probably burned the elements out :)
-
How much are new pads?

?????????????????

Not heard of a MK2 having heated seats, other than after market/MK3 seats.
-
they were available but not hugely popular over here... chances are the elements are knackered, make sure you're sitting down when VW tell you how much they are, if they are even available still!

Jay youve never read my project page then  theres circuit diagrams and all for them :nerd:

Mattneck.
Have you got the mk3 diagram? Im trying to mix and match the mk2 switch with mk3 seats.

Errm, I forget what the diagram is on my page now. John sent me it many moons ago.. The Mk2 loom will match to mk3 seats.. The plugs for the elements are the same.. Though the loom changes. Mk: relays clip on below seat. Mk2 loom, relays fit in fusebox area..

Have you got a link to your project page fella?

Just as a possibilty, there are other cars out there with heated seats. I am sure with a bit of thought, the wiring could be sorted out to accomodate non VAG elements to a VAG system.

Got a votex centre console now so this has to go. Ill work something out with the mk2 switch and mk3 loom using that diagram.
