Title: Replacing boot lock

Hi dudes , got a duff boot lock on my 91 Golf , its the button that does not work , i have a replacement button but cannot get the old one removed from rods in boot that are connected  to central locking , Anyone done this ore am i doing it wrong . Does it come off the rods or is it sold as a complete thing ???

   Been outside for hour and a half , cold now cut hands and well pi$$ed off  :rolleyes:
