i would prob say and someone correct me if im wrong
sort out a few bits on the engine first to handle the first remap, so 007p, dsg +airbox, forge TIP
then when you get the stage 1 should handle and deliver the pwer better, then i guess it would be a case of the exhaust, FMIC or SMIC and then biger brakes if your lookign at a stage 2
well thats what i would do
-
You will also need 4 bar fuel pressure regulator. You will need to get a different turbo aswell I would say. With everything on your list I reckon you will only be looking at 240bhp-250bhp?
-
With a target of 300bhp?
First of all, forget using any of the KKK turbos.. they're just too small to make 300 on a 1.8
Turbo - GT28RS or similar with manifold to suit, possibly RS4 maf housing and a big cone filter (panel/dsg/smoothing won't flow enough) .. custom downpipe into a decat or milltek sports cat 3" min.
FMIC (the forge smic won't cut it) you can put a custom one together with all the piping for less than a monkey
Sachs clutch
Mapping - do it in one go, at the end.. because this is where the knowledge of the larger maf housing and matching fpr/injectors will really come in handy.
After that
Leon cupra R brakes will stop 300bhp
At the very least a good stiff spring setup with matching struts to handle the extra weight getting thrown around - coilovers pref. (not £150 ebay ones)
-

-
Jabbasport IHI turbo
-
like Topher said, its worth saving the remap to last as its pointless spending money twice as it could be used to go towards the needed turbo. Also upgrade to a 4 bar fuel pump as its ok having a 4 bar fpr but pointless if you cant supply the fuel to it.
Have a look at the APR stage 3 kit on awesomegti, it will give you abit more idea as to whats needed.

Will piss over a 300bhp golf in every area (and any other 300bhp hatchback) and you will have change for a holiday!

I lightly modded my ctr, i didnt spend in excess of £10k on a fwd hatchback as its just stupid! Anyone that does it has more money than sense! I sold it because it was a nippy hatchback and was pointless to mod it further.
I bought
exhaust - £550
ECU - £800
Induction - £380
I sold them at the exact price i paid when i sold the car, as i want something that is faster standard and a better car! I dont personally have the need for 300bhp+ or i would buy an evo or M3 so the R32 fits me perfectly with 4wd and 250bhp.

what if the person likes the look of the golf and not something like a subaru or evo, and 10k is not necessarily the end figure, some mods wont be done in favour of others etc.

ahem
you don't own a MKIV anymore

You could buy and turbo an MK4 R32 for close to the money he will spend!

still kind of missing the point - perhaps he actually LIKES his current car and wants to keep it.................
-
Use the money as a down payment on a mortgage then and keep the car he likes so much instead of on a depreciating asset?
-
ahem
sorry you dont visit that often in the mk4 section plus your no good cos you dont have a post count in your username part

how do you know he doesnt already own a house? any car is adepreciating asset regardless of what you do with it
-
Use the money as a down payment on a mortgage then and keep the car he likes so much instead of on a depreciating asset?
he might be like myself and already own a house
still not quite there are we - so what he's pumping money into a depreciating asset - he's doing it, like the rest of us, because its fun and and it what we like to do. Its not rational but we do it anyway
i don't care i've spent about 2K on mods, upgrades etc and that i've still got more to spend. Do i care? No. Why? find me a more comfortable, practical and economical car which can punch above its weight when lightly modified and give one or two people a bit of a surprise
and if you're on about depriciation why do you want an R32 which sinks faster than the Titanic and will be worth less than 5p about an hour after you buy it

I've seen the pics mate, he's obviously being a workshy fop.. the only one clean at the end of the day.
What was this thread about again? Oh, yeah..if you want big power be commited, with the right buildup the GT turbo I mentioned earlier will pull 330 easy and spool a lot nicer than trying to strain a k03 or k04. You're in it for the long haul though, maybe an R32 is a more attractive choice if that's the kind of money you want to spend? They're pretty cheap atm too..

:D PMSL.
In his own words, the CTR was a car that he didn't love, so sold, yet buys a Mk4 Golf, joins a Golf forum under the alias of "JKCTR", & then slates it off in almost every other post! :D I take it he bought it without test driving it, then? :undecided:

So advising him to invest 13k in a 415 bhp Scooby which will be worth about £10k in 6 months, is the way forward is it?! Not to mention it will be more expensive to insure & run (WRX's are thirsty beasts, net alone that thing) than a 300 bhp Golf!

he hasn't bought a MKIV - apparently we're not good enough :lipsrsealed:

Subaru = The comfort of a cardboard box, and the same build quality to boot
Golf = 6 times cheaper than a Subaru, but not 6x slower, so better value for money, and a sweeeeeeet interior, better than a £12k Subaru equivilent!

You'd still need all the other parts before you could use the k04.

You can get that from a k03s with k04 internals.
-
Yeah I know,
But with a full setup what do you think I could make on the RR?
I think that 'Ashmond' has around 270bhp out of a k04 doesnt he?
Ash is running a full BAM lump i believe! Including loom etc...

dont think so says AUM in his project thread :undecided:

He's got the wiring loom, ko4 turbo, manifold, S3 cats and downpipe, 3" S3 maf, S3 injectors from the BAM engine and bolted them onto his AUM

They're okay, they do the job they're supposed to but they are budget items. Wouldn't recommend them for a track toy but on a daily they'll be fine, and if they break.. you can buy another set and still have spent less than an FK or Weitec kit
Check the discounts section at the bottom of the forum though, Edwin is one of our forum sponsors and sells the coilies to us for a bit cheaper

i dont really see your point, if HE wants to spend HIS money on HIS car its up to HIM? YES? whats the point in modding a car at all if you go down your route? you will never see the cash again. thats not the point is it? its a hobby at the end of the day.
