check for something that resembles mayonaise in the oil,
water mixing with oil, deadly combination :(
check the pip stick for the same as well ;)

Cheers mate :)
I did an oil change about a month ago and the oil that came out was just oure black, nothing odd floating about. And the water doesnt seem that bad either, just dirty because it hasnt changed been changed in a while. So hopefully there aint anything wrong

sounds like your safe from the dreaded head gasket ;)

head gaskets on a 1300 only take a few hours to do any way. theres nothing to them. if it needs doing set aside a day but it shouldn't take that long. i did mine last year. i dont have a garage and was doing it by the side of the road then it started to piss down :( ::). luckily i only had t connect up a few sensors and i was done though

thats good too know :), im hoping to keep the car whilst im at uni. just gotta sort out the oil leak and maybe change the gear box oil and she should start run smoothly. Oh, and change my break pads

My head gasket went on my 1.3, and it's apparently quite common for the block to wear underneath the gasket. Got a mechanic friend to repair it with some metal weld, and it's still going strong (sold it a while back, but see it round town). One thing that does happen before a gasket blow is the tappets can start sounding even more tappety than normal - perhaps water ingress.
