Title: Dumpvalve / Bow off valve
Post by: Payne on 12 January 2009, 10:45
Hey Guys,

I'm kinda new but I have to say nice forum :)
I have a Golf 1.8 20v Turbo Highline and I want to buy a dumpvalve or blow off valve? Dunno what is best or what
is the diference between the both of them.
Yesterday I did drive in a Mitsubitie Lancer Evo 9 380 awhp and the sound of that blow off valve sounds great!
I searched a bit on internet and saw that they have an HKS blow off valve
But then when I look some videos on youtube the HKS blow off valve on a 1.8 turbo sounds not the same as on the Evo.

Does anyone know how I get that sound, I mean just the blow off sound cause I know an Evo sounds different then a Golf
Do I need to buy an HKS too? Or does Forge got some good blow off valves too with the same sound?

I'm looking for a prety hard sound, not just sst but SSSSJT haha. If you know what I mean :)

Greez from Holland ;) Payne

Well give me 30.000 and I'll get me an Evo hahaha :D
Nah, just want a loud sound not something you can't even hear inside your car.
So the Forge 007p is the best there is, but doesn't make the sound that I want?
And the splitter isn't that good if we look at quality? Any suggestions?

i have the carbonio CAI kit, it is quite expensive but is very good looking under the bonnet and produces a very nice sound.

Along with this i have the forge 007 valve, which along with the carbonio CAI kit sounds AMMMAAZING

obviously personal preference but i love the sound of my 1.8t

i was just letting you know im selling my dump valve and fitting kit as im selling my car so stripping it all down. You can text me with any questions 07772670145. Its a baileys atmospheric one that is designed for the Golf 1.8 turbo. I paid £195.00 from demon tweeks, you can have it for a fraction of that if you want it.

Is that a good dump valve and fitting kit? Dunno much about it
Title: Re: Dumpvalve / Bow off valve

No. Every atmospheric DV I've seen (including the baileys ones) cause running issues with mk4 Golfs. Most of the time the owners are unaware of the problem until you replace it or show them vagcom logs of the ecu pulling back on the boost due to erroneous readings.

Stick with the Forge 007. Get a carbonio/dynatwist/similar and a silicone turbo inlet pipe if you want noises.

ha i thought so

in regards to the price of the  forge007 valve i paid around £100 if i remember rightly, and in regards to fitting they are a piece of piss

to fit, literally takes 5 minutes, if unsure go to a garage and theyll do it for u, probably for a fiver.
Title: Re: Dumpvalve / Bow off valve
Post by: Payne on 12 January 2009, 17:40
ok thnx, but some1 was talking about a CAI kit that fits at the valve for better sound?
Cause with that 007 valve only I don't have that nice loud sssssst sound right?
How do I get that loud sound when I did buy the 007 valve?
Title: Re: Dumpvalve / Bow off valve
Post by: jake on 12 January 2009, 17:54
yeah it was me who mentioned the CAI kit, this is what will give you the hsssst noise, the kit i was talking about was the carbonio CAI kit

This is where the noise comes from

Its just this question is asked far to often - and there is a sticky at the top of the mk4 page which has ALL the info about DV's.

Ask anything else we are a friendly lot

sounds nice, but that's not the 007 right. So it wouldnt be that good for your 1.8 turbo?
Title: Re: Dumpvalve / Bow off valve
Post by: gambeler on 13 January 2009, 16:03
from what ive heard that wouldn't be right for the type of engine you have
Title: Re: Dumpvalve / Bow off valve
Post by: richw911 on 13 January 2009, 19:13
If you read the thread  AT THE TOP OF THE MK4 PAGE you can get away with fitting  baileys ect on an AGU engine. ( And somtimes other engines people have done it in the past)

Although the engine wont be performing at it best.

Nobody at golfgti.co.uk would recommend it!!
