hi,
i have seen that on the 16v enigne the have oil jets that spray up at the pistons and im thinking they would be a nice add on for my 8v :) but does any one know if they will fit? cheers
-
chould fit them but no need, but you'll also need the bigger oil pump
-
i am using a bigger febi oil pump :) i am taking my 1.8gti to 2.1gti  i thought it would help oil get up to the pistons?
-
the oil jets arn't about lubrication there about cooling. pistons need F all oil problem with oil squirters is they can get to much oil and the scraper ring has troubel dealing with the excessive oil film on the bores, hence why some vw engine's got a reputation for useing oil

just buy a 2.0 agg lump. any myths about them not revving are just untrue.
iv only a 268' newman and it pulls strong to 6.5k, but the torque drops off around 5.5. il try find my rr plot.
i got my 2.0 for £80 delivered and it was perfect. around £150 all in with gasketts, fluids. cheaper than a rebuild.
what pistons you using for the 2.1?
-
ok cheers for the info guys! but its a little to late for me to buy a 2.0 now ive all ready started :P im using KS 83mm pistons and the 2.0 crank :D
-
that does sound a little fruity!
-
1.9 D is the cranck for 2.1 95.5mm stroke with 83mm bore
-
 so i could grab the 2.0 liter crank out of a 1.9 mk2 diesel is that what you mean? i was going to buy a 2.0 crank that was going to cost me quite a bit :( cheers
-
i can supply you with 2.0 cranckshaft :) and 144mm or 159mm rods
don't have any spare 95.5mm crancks, they come from aaz motors but they have habbit of eating keyway out so quite valuable
-
Can I butt in? Would the 1.9D crank fit into the 2.0l ABF/9A/6A to bring it up to 2.1?
-
would go but would have to be carefull with ABF, as if useing stock ecu cranck needs toothed wheel,
when adding 95.5mm crancks depending on block machene work is required to clearance round the cranck, tall blocks should be ok.
-
Ah, so that's why you don't see many folk with 2.1 ABF's then ;)
-
i remember all these type of questions about 1800 CVH from sierra
took my 1 year of messing around with differant cranks and rod's
then it blew up threw a rod , and some one told my to take a 2.0 zetec and stick a 1.6CVH head on it and WOOP WOOP off we went with 350BHP
i would say if you are determind to do it , then have a go , but if your not that bothered i would just buy an ABF and stick that in

I just like asking questions that's all - my mind is a sponge for knowledge.
When the time comes, I'll have one bad ass ABF ;)
