Just a quicky lol.
Asked a question on another topic about me not running a dv at all. Been doing it for a year or so, no probs. Question is, i just realised something. The N249 removal mod is bassically the same. The dump valve controls the amount of boost which creates the surge so many paople get on remaps, so by by-passing the N249, this is not allowing the dump valve to release excess boost basically making it redundant (not doing its job). The way i see it, im doing the same by not having a dump valve at all!!! HELP!
-
Well the DV controls excess boost, so say your full boost, and you slam the brakes on. what happens to the excess boost?
Iam sure if it were safe to remove the DV car makers would save money and not fit one in the first place. also not all 1.8T engines have the 249 fitted, my AGU dosnt have one. yet still use's a dump valve.
get a boost spike and you can damage your turbo aswell as the engine. bent con rods for one.
I would get me a forge DV. then you can control the boost and stop surging by useing a stronger spring. iam useing the blue spring in my DV and it smoothed out the surgeing nicely. infact ivorMK4 recomended the blue spring over the yellow in another thread and it is under more control and boosts smooth as you like.
your choice fella but i would refit a forge DV if i were you.

Fair enough, i got it still so might put it back, it just boosts so much better lol. What you reakon about the N249 bypass then? Is that again not something that the manufactures would have left off?
-
well they did leave it off on the AGU engines but with tighter emissions ect the whole system was changed on later 1.8T,s the bypass of the 249 will do no harm.
-
cool, well im now in the process of the forge 007 and ill get the green spring (if not in there already) and the by-pass will happen tomorrow lol, cheers mate.
-
if its remaped you may want the yellow spring. depends on the stage of remap!
-
well im at 220bhp, ill check the website of Forge.
-
220bhp you may even want the blue spring! you have a stage 2 remap then?
-
No, i got a Powerchips remap, de cat, upgraded n75 valve, bmc cda filter kit. Im still only at 15psi tho so ill see what works best. Thing is, my mate is doing me a new system soon consisting of turbo, intercooler, 2 additional injectors, new remap and about 280-300 bhp within the next 3 months, not cahrging any labour as long as i take to shows and use as demo for his company lol, just dont want anything going bang before hand lol.
-
oh, any piggy back ecu!!
-
you will also be needing an ATB then to put the power down. hope that engine is in good nick, it will be pushing it at 300bhp for sure. BAM bottom end, forged pistons, lower compression to run high boost. it will certainly find the weak spots. paddle clutch ect. ive already done a drive shaft, inner CV joint. can be a weak point on the golf's when useing high output.
alot of work there, hope its still drivable round town fella.

Yeah i know but im not paying labour so its not to be missed. He owns Redline Tuning in Essex, he has done all my cars on these sorts of things, plus he said he is resposible for it so i cant really go wrong..........i hope.
