Hi
As I am selling my 1989 'G' Mk 2 16v GTI I thought I'd ask the experts what you think its worth.
It's the 3d small bumper version, totally original in white with PAS, electric front windows and manual sunroof.
Its done 115k miles and the cambelt was replaced at 97k.
MOT till end March 05, tax end of Sept 04.
I have loads of bills/receipts and theres alot of history.
The interior is very good, tyres are good as is the original exhaust.
It also has a CAT 1 immobiliser.
There are a few minor rust spots like the classic one at the bottom of the door, the gear linkage bush needs replacing, the drivers window needs some help closing and the drivers seat wont lift.
I was hoping to sell for a grand.
Does that sound reasonable?
Your help would be much appreciated.

alrite mate ;)
it all depends really,
rust at the bottom of the door is not good at all, because this probably meens that the floorpans could be rusty as well, which is actually a mk2 killa! :(
its white to, could be a problem when selling
and also small bumper is a bit less desirable
has it got bbs alloys?
if so id say put it up for 900 quids ono,
prepared to get nocked down because of the rust on the door( this can really be a problem with mk2s)
good luck selling her mate!
hope its swift! ;)

For what it's worth. I agree with all the above comments.
I recently sold my tornado red/big bumper/92J with 180k FVWSH and one owner for ?1750. It was immaculate inside but even the small amount of rust around the windscreen brough the value down. Nobody wants white/small bumper I'm afraid. I would say if you're offered ?750 for it - take it. regards, yt.

thing is, with a car like the mk2 bodywork is getting more important when you buy one. change the gear linkage bushings and the ball joint cos thats a cheap and relatively easy job, one less problem, and if the customer has been looking at other mk2's its likely the gears will be nasty (they all are now :'() so yours will feel nicer.
