Title: New front grill
Post by: the_stink on 09 January 2009, 18:13
So the grill i got off ebay has come through time to start getting this sorted, going for satin black bars with a red badge surround and was conisdering spraying behind the VW badge Red so the black badge pops out a bit more

first coat of primer

Really easy mate. The hardest part is disconnecting the bonnet release on the hinge then it just pulls of practically. The bonnet release can by pulled apart with a screwdriver being twisted.

Get a flat headed screwdriver in the hinge and twist and it should pop off both sides.

Looking forward to seeing this - I ordered a new grille over xmas, but it still hasn't turned up.

Not sure 100% what my plan is for it:  my car's silver and I was thinking satin black grill + chrome badge or gloss black grille/badge.

I think a quick photoshop is on the cards, as I was also thinking of doing the B pillars and possibly mirrors.......

^^^^^ This was the inspiration for my evil plan

Not sure if it would translate across to a silver 4motion though

Fitted the grill tonight, was fairly easy managed to loose the tiny little round metal bit that the bonnet release is connected with but a couple of trusty cable ties have done the job (bloody fiddly) will get some better photos when its dry and not dark!
