i phoned around to find the best price for a cambelt change, canterbury ashford gillingham maidstone and dartford before christmas i left my home number my mobile and even my email address now thats atleast £350 worth of work, out all of these very very wealthy companies that are so well off, none contact me why do they do that. bollocks to them all ,getting it done at the only garage that bothered to fone me back. :angry:st georges at cliftonville will be getting my money.
-
agreed chap, also what gets me is when a cars in for work an they haven't called when they said the would so you have to ring them up an they say "oh I was just about to call you sir"
Like f**k you where!
-
I have a local garage that I use and trust. I wouldn't let a main dealer anywhere near my car.
-
They mostly suck the big one, I have experienced this from a service pov...but also and much more alarmingly from a sales perspective...
Me: OK I have £20,000 to spend on a GTI....do you want my money?
Spotty sales monkey: "yes sir...I will get the car for you, its not at the dealership just now, its a demonstrator and out of the office"...
Me: ok thanks, call me when its back, its just the thing I am looking for!
<end of dialogue>
Not a word, not a dicky bird, not so much as a postcard.... I eventually 10 days later called the Sales Manager and tore him a new @rsehole....and never went back...In general they are low level, commission led lazy scroates..... :lipsrsealed:
Just for the record this was Arnold Clark, Merrylee Glasgow.

in the next 2 years I predict at least 30% of high end dealers will close, i.e. Merc, BMW, Audi, VW.

i wanted to buy a espace last year i went to canterbury renault spoke to the used car sales idiot who took us on a test drive told him that we wanted to spend £20000 he said that he'd find us one. i kept foning and foning eventually his secretary snapped at me saying he will ring you when he finds one. a week later i ordered a brand new one off broadspeed for less than there poverty spec 6month old one.when i went to registar it at the service department the sales manager overheard me slagging the used car section off and wanted to no all the details of which i told him,the used sales guy nolonger works there final straw i think.btw i foned service at 9am and ive still not heard anything back yet not happy.

I wanted a polo gti last year, booked an appointment at the local stealers (Martins bsaingstoke) turned up to test drive it and got told that they were busy with someone else and I might have to wait a while, they could not give me a long test drive as they had another appointment in half an hour. I pointed out that I was their 11:30 appointment and they looked blankly at me! At which point I said obviously you do not need my business I will go else where as there are plenty around at other dealers. He then got shirty with me and said there is no need to be like that. I pointed out I was the customer, I had an appointment and THEY were F***ing me about. At which point they miraculously found someone to assist with my test drive. Needles to say did not buy it. Got the MK5 instead

still waiting for them to fone back only been six hours i did try earlier but apparently there busy.ill give the till five then ring renault uk see what they have to say. bassturds

Why would anyone be suprised at this kind of behaviour?? they all do it unfortunately!!
Im just so glad I get to shaft my dealer the only way that matters  in the pocket!!
-
you'd have thought in this climate dealers would be rolling out the red carpet and trying every trick that there is to get money from us.ive no problem with my vw dealer always return icalls always cheaper than anywhere else will pick up car drop me off or lend me a car never had a problem maybe its because its a vw service only in a chevy garage(was vw) so relys on repeat business.
-
VWUK have not seen a penny of my money as the car was imported from a Dutch dealer and I get all my servicing done at AwesomeGTI in manc (great bunch of guys and service - VW take note). I'm glad mine is out of warranty as it doesn't need to go to VW for anything else to be be broken
I'm suprised more VW dealerships have not closed with their disgraceful service
I actually went in today to have a look at the Golf and Scirocco - it was the busiest I've ever seen it. If only the punters knew about the shoddy aftersales
-
To be fair there still are a few good dealers....somewhere..... Only way you get good service is to be mates with the service manager or sales manager. Walking in cold of the street leaves you open to being ripped off....after all they have to pay for all the mates rates they give away somehow
-
It sadly seems that the more expensive the item, the poorer the service. Some of the worst service I have come across was when I was buying cars and new homes.

To be honest i think all dealers are the same. I left my name and number with 3 ford dealersevery month for about 6 months for a test drive in a focus st and never once got a phone call. I drove past one of the dealerships with a st sitting in the forecourt, callled in asked for a test drive and was told i'd have to wait at least 3 weeks!lol So went next door to the vw garage where my dads friend is a salesman and drove out in 2 day old fully loaded GTI for a 24hr test drive, and that was me hooked. I couldnt afford a new GTI so i was getting calls almost every week about 2nd hands cars they were getting in. I was more than happy to buy a car of them until my dad experienced good old VW after sales service. His brand new passat shreaded a set of front tyres in 3000 miles, they blamed it on driving round to many roundabouts. Theres no roundabout on this commute to work. To investigate the problem they want £185 to check the alignment and even if it was out they only cover the alignment for the first 500miles. The passat went in again for a new door lock, 6 weeks later my parents got the car back!lol The final straw was when i was in looking at a GTI the salesman told me he had delivered a brand new R32 the previous day, one of the head light bulbs blew on the way home. The owner brought it back the next morning and the service department charged them £48 to fit a new bulb. The next day i bought a import from Motorhouse and it has never been near a offical VW garage and never will.

i tried to get some new breather pipes from my local vw parts dept took the guy 20 mins to find them on is computer system then told me they wont fit mine , i even took him outside to get the part number off mine he said they be with him next day . still not recieved them 3 weeks on even after many phone calls to see if there in . so went volksmine and they sorted me brand new genuine breathers next day . i wont go vw main dealers again.
-
i never use them, always use awesome now i have no warrenty. always get top quality care, and just wait and watch them with my car.
had soooooo tooooo many bad experiences with VW and the last straw was when my local dealer wouldnt even give me a trade price against an R32 because im "too young" and couldnt get insured. i just laughed and walked out, cant believe their attitude and it shows with other customers as they havnt sold a new car in 3 months

I've had very good service from my main dealer Wolsey Ipswich.... They don't give the best discounts on new cars because they are small and so can't afford to compete with a larger group like Inchcape say. Never had a problem with them, but they did get on my t1ts once when I bought a brand new 07 Edition 30 and tried to sell it back 7 weeks later only to be offered £21k. Another dealer, Solihull VW offered me £23k so they got my business. Never bought a new car from them after that - and I have bought 2 new cars from other main dealers since. If they could offer a decent price I would have, but they can't. Their service department is excellent though and the parts guys are good too. They are closed on Sundays, but they even opened the showroom for me on a Sunday morning so I could pick up my Mk1 Golf GTI last year. I do wonder what they treat 'ordinary' customers like though as I'm on very good terms with them.

Ordered a stereo fascia adapter on Friday at the VW dealership where I bought my car just down the road from my work in Oldham. Paid for it and was told it would be in Saturday morning. I went to pick it up today (Monday) at 12 and they couldn't find it anywhere in the stores or find it on the computer system that was down.
Glad I didn't go out of the way on Saturday then.
They took my number and said they would call me back. Not heard owt since. What a surprise.
What really annoys me is that I had to pay for it upfront!
-
You mentioned VW Maidstone. I bought my MK5 from them and there service as been really good. I had to speak to the guy that sold me i yeterday, Mr.David Catchpole, he was in a meeting, and called me back as soon as he was out. Not had any issues, really nice guy and happy to help :)
Some are good, some are bad :(
-
bought mine from vw maidstone as well. i've found them to be quite good although they know how to charge for a service!
-
If I worked for VW I would love to look into their dealer qa programme! I would put my money on each dealer being audited annually to ensure compliance to a whole host of criteria, however whether these audit reports dissolve into subjective politically watered-down observations rather than the findings enforced as part of an objective quality improvement programme is another matter. You can imagine the crappy politics involved where vw management turn another blind eye to Dealer indiscretions  the poor auditor must go home at night and kick his cat around the kitchen

I wouldn't really class VW & Audi as high-end...

On a global scale of things they are. They aren't exactly low-end like Kia, Daihatsu, Proton etc... or mid-range like Ford, Vauxhall, Fiat etc... They are at the low end of the high end
-
They charge 'high end' prices
-
You should see the way Glasgow Audi dicked me about in 2006 when I made the car mistake of my life and got a new A6 - useless bloody useless btw the car was equally bloody useless
-
Still not had a call......
-
do they still do the "courtesy call from marketing/headoffice people" revenge will be sweet then. apparently bmw give dealers give £500 for positive feed back and take £1000 back for negative feed back.....

Well upper middle class!

£1000 back for a bad questionairre? Christ! No wonder the stealers can't "afford" to give a decent trade in OR reduce their top end margins....ffoookin....faginesque.....ripoffsters.....let's start Fight Club......;-))
