ok i just bought a wicked new gti mk2 and damn its a spectacular car HOWEVER< it has a few probs,
1st only one side of the dash light glows, how can i make them both glow?
2nd the clutch seems to not want to select gears easilly, it has a neuspeed short shifter kit installed on it and apparently the clutch is relatively new, is there anyway to adjust the clutch to make it select gears better?
3rd the exhaust is clear but my buddy said when he was floowing me when i was givin it a good rip he said he smelled oil burning. the engine is rebuilt recently but needs new spark plugs could this be why its burning a bit of oil?
4th my MFA wont reset and the oil temp always says its 160 celcius, i have no idea if it is really this hot as i know normal is about 70 or osmething, i checked the sensor and its on, but maybe i checked the wrong one, i checked the one that goes into the side of the block, also the engine seems to be running a bit hot but 160 is odd especially when it ocassionaly fell to 60 for a second or 2 then went back to 160
thanks for any help

hello mate,
probably cant help you with most of the technical stuff. the dashboard light went out on mine, when I hit the top of the dash hard it came on, had to do it every time I turned the lights on. failing that you need to take the clocks out and change the led/bulb.
160 is way to hot if that's an accurate temp normal readings when the car is warmed up should be between 95 and 115 / 120 when you thrash it.
with the oil burning, do a compression test, it might be a case of a duff head gasket.

have you pulled out the fuse to reset the mfa? that usually works, just pull it out, leave for 5-10 secs and put back in.
-
cpoompression is very high in all cylinders as the engine wa just rebuilt, and what fuse is it to pull??
-
mines the 2nd to left or third ???
but edds was 2nd to right(8v)
have a look on the fusebox cover

i pulled the fuse and reset it, but as soon as i started the engine the oil temp went back to around 160 celcius, that was with the engine sitting overnight?? it didnt even warm up (usually it has -- for a fwew mins while it gets a reading but it didnt) it immediatly went to 160

swap around the sensors on the oil cooler housing and see if theres any difference? or get some from the breakers
