I am on the prowl for my perfect r32, whilst searching through autotrader I came across an r32 with standard leather seats and red piping...

Dealer said it was not an import but a uk car they had on demonstrator, has anyone seen these before?
-
jeez,...30 views and no comments....these must be unusual....
-
Clues in the name of the site: GolfGTI.co.uk.
AFAIK, the R32 never came with red stitching/piping on the leather seats from the factory. So it must have been retro fitted.
Never believe anything a dealer tells you...

i know that car in the pick is it at hudderfield vw? if so the car cam stock with cloth and they had it redone in leather and its a perfect job as i have seen it and been in it
-
Ah....retrofitted eh? interesting cannot think why someone would go to such ridulous cost and bother........sadly the car is now sold anyway  For the record it was nearly new 2008 circa 3k miles for £16995!
Yes, it was in Huddersfield VW
It is just the first time I have seen such a thing and, given that most of us Mk5 dubber lubbers seem to be interested in such oddities, R32 or GTI related I thought it worthy of a post.

The 2nd hand price of Mk5 R32s vary wildly depending on the spec. The ones with cloth seats are particularly hard to shift and retail up to £1K less than an identical spec with leather.

Fair dos.

BTW the seats were leather....at least the sales bumpf said so... ok nuff said for now. Thing I dont get though is why a dealership would actually retrofit red stitching to seats! That kind of thing is usually a personal preference of a new buyer,..then decides that they are bored and sells the car....this only had about 3000 miles on the clock....hmmm...
Mated30, you sat in the car? was it leather? did you ask the question about the stiching?
lol this conversation is really not leading anywhere, you can tell I am bored at work!

the car was being run by a mate of mine that works there and the car came from vw with cloth and they got it cheap in from vw so it was sat in the showroom for a while but to get sales up they stuck it on the road and had the leather done and the stiching done to match the car. it cost them a grand to have it done by a guy in doncaster and it looked fantastic and even had the seems done for the airbags to go off
-
Ahhh yes I think I have seen that one. Is it the one by the entrance??
Not sure why but the red just doesnt do it for me. Seen a very nice DBP one today but overpriced at 16k on a 56plate
-
if its to your taste Joe... can do sumthin like that, one of the mods on here his company trim deluxe do sum top notch stuff, me i really like the idea but on an R32 i would go for blue rather than red!

thanks for the info.....I am gobsmacked that this dealer would "play" with a product they want to sell like this.......any wonder they were recently taken over and the new company sold a lot off cheap, shame I missed out on it....the bloke I spoke to on the phone seemed a decent sort too.

Im not sure they did sell alot off cheap. Was at the leeds one yesterday and they had a couple but were priced stupidly high. Sytner now own both Leeds and Hudds!
If I were buying I would probably avoid dealers and go private.... unless an unbeatable deal came up. problem is with unleaded coming down so much I dont think as many will want to sell as say 6month ago :nerd:
-
good call re fuel prices there, but lack of finance, wariness of buyers, low confidence in the Market and a new model in the pipeline will also drive prices I think.

They could have changed the roof lining to the black stuff while they were at it

Well spotted eagle eyes.
Factory-fitted leather seats come with a dark roof lining.

On a similar subject...does anyone actually think that these are Recaros? I rarely trust dealers....

It's hard to tell from the photos - but I would say those are the standard cloth seats. Ring up the dealer and ask if they have hard backs - it could be a genuine mistake.
-
Defo not recaros
-
Not recaros, just the standard cloth seats.
Nice colour though
