........ Goes the rear wheels on the back of my Dub
So, How much of a difference is there from ET35 to ET33 ?????
and will dropping from 195/50/15s to a 185 tyre make much difference ?????
Cos its either the offset of the new rims, the tyre size, or the Drop ( or a combination of all 3 ) so i cant use the car with any weight in the back
HELP ! ! !
Thanks in advance
-
2mm difference!
Hammer to arches my friend, hammer to arches.
Nick
-
Could always raise it a touch?

2mm difference!
Hammer to arches my friend, hammer to arches.
Nick
    after the work I have just done,
so with 2mm more on the ET, and 5mm + on the tyres ( 195 from 185 ) I have added at least 7mm  Correct ?????
-
Yeah pretty much, look to see how much they rub. On mine I just flexed the small areas it caught with a pair of molegrips wrapped in cloth. Did the job a treat and they only needed a tweak.
Nick
-
2 rear seat passangers and they rub ALL THE TIME
so it was a trip away in the Corsa
will look amora after work
-
The Rado does that so I just banned rear passangers.
nick
-
I wish
-
summut not right there my friend, it took an et of 12 to make my rear wheels rub with 195/50 tires, ET18 and there were no problems. No way an ET of 33 or 35 should rub with 195/50s :undecided:
-
was it lowered aswell ??????? as mine is now
-
yeah lowered 40-50mm, maybe not quite as low as yours but you should still have loads of arch room? Are you sure thats the right ET number :undecided:
-
yep, 99% certain, they are off a Rado I was lead to believe, bought them off GolfDan on here.
both sides are as close, so its not as if the Rear beam is off centre :lipsrsealed:
and it only rubs when LOADED UP, thus the rear end is V low.
but all other wheels I have had on have been ET35 and 185s  so never had this before . and the Front clears by a mile
-
I guess it must just be the mega lowness! 45 profiles should do you i think, or maybe just a change of tyre! I had eagle F1s on mine when it was on ET18, they rubbed like mad, switched to falken ze 512s in the same probfile and problem solved. Falkens have a 'stretched look' they tuck in a lot more compared to the Eagles which have a really square sidewall.
edit: lookin at your sig the tyres at the back do look quite 'balloony'
-
  pirelli P6000s
oh well, will double check tonight that all is well, double check the ET on the rear wheels, see if its just the plastic arch trim or the lip itself, and go from there.
Really dont want to have to stick new tyres on
whats would you suggest 185 / ??? / 15
-
i agree with nick...HAMMER TIME
(http://bybobbibooker.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/e-mc-hammer-lg.gif)
-
does it rub on both sides or just one?
-
both
-
both
that's good. hammer oot. the metal arch points backwards towards the wheel so bend that back into the arch to make a U shape rather than a L. if it still rubs then grinder oot. or your car's too low.
-
take care if you grind the rear arches, they're double skinned and sealed. if you open them up by grinding off too much lip they gotta be resealed or moisture will get inside and rust the rear quarter from the inside out.
-
home for lunch, tyres are ballon like :lipsrsealed:
can get me fingers between lip n tyre as is,
as soon as it goes lower they both touch
so, 185 tyres then me thinks :lipsrsealed: but 185 wot ? ? ? ? ?
-
nankang do 185/45/15, or did
-
did  will going down to a 185/55/15 make much difference ????????
-
Can't you take the pikey approach and stick a spare wheel on and roll it with a scaffold pole?
Failing that, get it rolled proffessionally surely, its not that expensive...
-
    pikey R NOT us
I have raised the rear by an centremetre and a bit  and with a boot loaded up with 4 suspension sets and a load of wood, 3 kids and 2 trolley jacks, and no scrubbage
-
You on coilovers now then, or have you got the spring platforms that can change to a set height?
-
:lipsrsealed: another method  thsnk fook i dont throw anything away - or sell it
will drop the arse back down when i sort out another set of Rims :lipsrsealed:
-
fook me...i would have done the route that Nick was on about and just banned rear passengers! You running a nose down stance now then Chuff?
-
I would say I am level now, as it was Ar$e end low before  but at minus 3 last night i wasnt going to go taking piccies etc as i needed a pi$$ and had to warm the little fella up to find him
