Post by: pat1967 on 04 January 2009, 15:25
Happy new year to everyone!

Had my gti from new, bought in sept 07, fitted with rcd500 and ipod connector in the center console.

I recently got a ipod nano(4th gene I think)....however having trouble getting to work, it seems to power up when connected, but no sound....looked in the instruction books, not sure it is in English!!( not very tech minded!!!)....just wondering if anyone can help!!

The 4th Gen isn't very compatable with many players. Manufacturers are releasing cables for them now.

VW used the firewire pins to charge, but all new iPods and iPhones use the USB charging pin, so won't work.

Try

I had a problem with my ipod touch in an 08 GTI (centre console - factory fitted) and it had to go back to the dealer to have a new connector fitted. Although it wouldn't even power up. I am not sure about the nano though sorry.

I would suggest a trip to the stealers and see what they say.

Regards & good luck.
