Title: heater matrix changing?

whats the best way to change a heater matrix on a mk2 golf gti?

with gloves on, unless you like plastic cuts (which sting like mad)

oh and dont lose the clips off the control cables (where they mount to the heater box)  :lipsrsealed:

The guide linked above is way more comprehensive than mine in terms of pictures, however, have a flick through here (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=49436.msg851895#msg851895) for some wise words of wisdom.

Oh and WEAR GLOVES! But the control cables don't get removed at any stage - so don't go messing with them.

dont bother splitting the middle box from the blower, that way lies madness and knashing of teeth.  simply remove 1 extra nut on the bulkhead and a plastic nut up next to the blower housing under the dash, then the entire airbox will come off the firewall.  Also dont disconnect any control cables, remove the heater surround & knobs then unscrew the heater slider control box from the dash, pull that out along with the heaterbox.
