Title: Brake lights not working
Post by: mash on 16 June 2004, 10:56
Anyone come across whereby none of their brake lights work inlcuding the centre one?

Have looked at the fuse and bulbs which look fine.
Any other ideas?......relay or switch? if so where abouts are these located.

Its on a Mk4 GTi 'T' on an X plate.

Thanks

can't remember if the switch is on the pedal or on the cylinder, have to have a look later.

Yeah it is,

when i bought my pride n joy, after 2 services (so the stealers said) one when they got the car and one b4 i picked it up, I wanted to drive home to show it off to family, friends etc.

Just about to go on the motor way and thought to my self "why are drivers behind me not slowing down??" a bit scared, then saw my reflection in a shop window with no break lights!!!! >:(

Called the stealers (Cheltenham CD Brammal ) and they said they were about to close so couldn't do nothing today, so had to drive 100miles with no break lights.

Got to London, went to a DEALERSHIP in swiss cottage, they were fully booked (this was a sunday) but the guy said, "tell you wot mate i'll do it my self, will only take 15 mins, its just a switch, and i can't let you go off with no brake lights!!!

How nice is that, so there are some Dealers around! ;)

Just got the switches as there are 2 types, a 2 pin and 4 pin.  Anyone got any info on how to replace it?

I had a quick look behind the pedal and there seems to be a rubber casing which could be inside that but not sure.
