just won this on the bay
can you tell if it`s definately an rcd500
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=220335883146
just worried as it was so cheap

IMO it's a rcd500 but it won't play mp3 cds as there is no mp3 logo visible on the front of the unit.
-
i`ve got the single disc mp3 in my ed30 but she wants a multi changer, so i couldn`t resist for £62, i`ll pay through paypal and if it`s not i`ll put a claim in
-
Yup as said its an RCD500 but not the MP3 compatible version.
-
i want to get rid of my rcd500 mp3, its ok but only plays certain format mps.. most of the time it stalls after like the first 10tracks when i use nero and roxio burner..
Ive tried other burners but still the same, cleaned the laser with 2dif types of lense cleaners but still no help

Really? What discs you using? Interested because I've thought about changing my RCD500 non-mp3 for an mp3 one.
I normally stick with verbatim - highly reliable. Recently ran out and desperately needed some for some new albums and ended up buying memorex ones from asda. I stay away from Roxio. Nero is supposed to be good. Do you verify a track after burning? Have you tried CD-Rs or CD-RWs?
-
ive got mp3 compatible rcd500, i burn mp3s with roxio no problems what so ever and i only use cheap disks (50 for a fiver) your proberly burning them to fast. Burn at 16x you should have no probs.
-
i use sony 80min cd-rs and burn it as a data disc.. its works kinda better than if i select the burn mp3 disc option (this is on nero) but either way it dont read the tracks properly.
i think its a malfunction inside, because the cd spins and stops making a werid noise lol. i think ill stick it on ebay and just buy the normal cd player back
-
^^^^^ sony discs are a bit dodgy mate from my experence always had probs with compatability of certain players reading sony discs weather it be dvd-r or cd-r etc, try a normal blank printable cdr (with no writing on it) failing that your right in thinkig its knackered.

Aftermarket HU FTW :D !

i spoke to the seller yesterday and the stereo was only in his car for 4 days as he upgraded to sat nav so a brand new rcd 500 for £62 thankyou very much
-
Wait hang on a second, a 2008 Tiguan won't play MP3's?
Get into the 21st century!

It would do if they speced the optional headunit from VW at extra cost.

If its a 2008 car then it wont have the rcd on the ebay advert you showed.. all 2008 vws have the facelifted stereos that look like the rns, it would have come with the new rcd310 as standard that plays mp3s as ive noticed at my local vw dealers. an eos was fitted with a dab/cd unit think that was an upgrade.
-
it is the stereo that holds 6 cd`s is that not an rcd500?
-
yes, the rcd500 is a radio with an internal six disc multichanger.
-
well thats what it is then
happy days

Do you split your data CD into 6 separate folders (e.g by artist ?) That stopped mine from skipping / stuttering
Other than that it is quite likely to be the media it does'nt like, so try different brand CD's
Maxell (gold ones) have worked best for me at a slow burn speed of x8
