Need one of these to remove the bottom pulley nut on my 2.0 ABF engine. I don't want to spend a fortune but understand a cheap one won't last too long. Either of these be up to the job?

Your thoughts appreciated

I have never used an impact wrench. I take it the engine is out of the car otherwise I would have thought access would be nearly impossible? I have a two foot long, half inch drive breaker bar. Loads cheaper and safer to use.

Yes engines out.

Whats the best way of stopping the crank turning whilst undoing it?
-
olds bearing shell in starter ring wedged against a bolt, or wedgeing someting in through on flywheel

you can get impact guns from machine mart that are £15/20 that connect to your car battery. ive had one for a few years now and its perfect for crank bolts and the like. it does feel cheap as hell but works and is almost disposable at that price!

i just got one from the bay, 24v jobby with 2 batteries, £40 delivered - good bit of kit, and so far so good

i know i'm a mechanic and i use mine every day BUT
i now have a snap-on electric impact gun and IT IS SEX
but i had a cheapo one that lasted a year of every day abuse (use)
then i sold it to my mate for a tenner and i think it is still going , although the battery needs charging every other wheel nut
i love mine though

hmm I might have to get one to add to my cupboard of ever growing unused tools
Bought some more sockets, 3/8"'s & 1/4" with an adapter to switch between the two, along with a screw driver with multiple bits and some spanners.
Was £19 down to £6 from argos, cat number 700 / 0900

I bought a £5 tool that does the same, a non powered impact wrench that you belt the back end of with a big hammer and that does the trick! Never failed!!!

you arnt thinking of undoing the 19mm 12 point blt in the middle of the crank pulley? if so dont :P The crank pulley is held on with the 4 allen bolts. it might fight you when you try to remove it though, but a puller will make short work of it.
If you wanted to remove the inner crank timing belt sprocket then you need to remove that bolt :)

your right I didn't need to remove that bolt oh well you learn something new everyday.
