Hmmmm i bolloxed up big time. Dropped the orange bit that goes on the end of the speedo cable into the gearbox. ??? What do i do? Do i try to flush it out or break it by using the car then flushing it, will this do any damage to my gearbox?
By the way is this orange bit meant to be held on by something or just pushed on? Circlip?

How does the orange end bit go on to the speedo cable? Is it held on by anything or simply pushed on to it?

As far as I know it should be held on by a circlip, sometimes this can be a bit tight but a bit of filing gets it sorted.
I think that siunce gear is only plastic the box will just grind it into oblivion, but you might notice your gears feel a bit strange sometimes untill they do :)

This is what i have been told so far. Every mechanic i have asked has said the same thing........the cogs would grind the plastic bit into millions of little pieces, then you can just flush it out.
One said that do not risk it. Im in two minds.
I think im going to go with the first one, if it does mess up, ill just replace it, would work out cheaper then getting the gearbox taken out then opened up and vice versa.
Good luck to me.
