just a quick question folks....
a geeze at work has a w plate tdi vw bora, totally standard, think its a low spec one so probs one of the lowest power models?? 90/100 bhp?? any ways, he has an intermitant power delivery problem, some times its fine and runs as normal, then other times when he goes to accelerate its as if there no power when the turbo is due to cut in and give the rest of it.... ??? he can turn it off whilst coasting, turn it back on and power be as normal??, i havent driven it my self but will do over this weekend as ive said ill have a look for him, not used to the tdi as im a petrolhead , but similar probs ive had was the divertor valve on my 20vt , and had power problems on one of my vr6's due to the maf... so not sure where to start looking to help him!! , (hes also thinking of selling cheap if he cant sort it... lol.. so i wouldnt mind buying it and selling my vr6... lol..cheaper to run and all that!!)
any help mucho wanted!!
cheers
Gaz

Sounds like a faulty maf sensor :undecided:
Get it plugged into vag com see if it throws up any codes

will sort out a lead and see what i can find out... seems weird as it can be ok for days then just be no power, then turn off / on and ok... so deffo electrical/ sensor problem, at first he thought it was turbo but it sounds sweet and oil is clean, its done 145k miles....

Hi Gaz.
Sounds like the turbo may be going into limp mode. Turning the engine off and back on resets it until it goes again. I had the same problem. Vagcom also threw up a fault code but off the top of my head I can't remember what it was.........I could dig out the info.
As Rhyso says, check all the hoses and pipes, especially around the little solenoids on the bulkhead. That's where mine was leaking........took ages to find.

My GT TDI did this, took it to VW (under warranty) & they had to swap the turbo. They told me if I turned off the engine & back on again the turbo would work again for a while.
