hi guys
new to the forum but not to a gti.
got an alfa 157 at the mo and looking to go for mk5 gti 2.0
probably stoopid newbie question but as everyone advertises the cars in different format... do they all put out 200bhp or is it just certain models or upgraded ones?
any advice you can to find the good stuff much appreciated
many thanks in advance

std 2.0ltr tsi mk5 gti's push out 200 horsies as standard, edition 30's push out 230bhp as standard.

Most ED30's are actually putting out around 240-250bhp and the pirrelli edition is 220 iirc

Apparently some folk say white is the fastest colour...

Candy Whites always worth a look, but my personal favorite for the mk5 is Steel Grey

Quite a few people have had RR with 240bhp on the ED30 (although im aware the jkm rr day saw at the most 234, still higher than VW said)

if you are talking about Phil Mcavity he did have 237bhp on the JKM rollers, i was there but there is alot of difference between RR's over the country and it has been long debated for the last few months. the guide given by VW is after extensive testing and slight differences will be seen, 250 bhp is a little ambitious for a standard ED30 motor imo.

I have seen a few do 250 std, and the Seats do the same, but there is always the RR accuracy debate which will never be solved

Why dont vw just engine dyno it and then we will know! :undecided:

they did and it was 227bhp!! 5% Either way is about right. 250 stock is laughable and questionable. Modify it to stage one will see around 275-280, stage 2, 300hp onwards with various other additional mods.
The quest for accuracy continues.....................................

My Ed 30 was 229 bhp on Superchips rollers ..... which seems spot on
The last car I used Superchips to Rolling Road was a 200sx which they showed as 195 bhp when Nissan were quoting 197 bhp. The next day it was rolling roaded at a well respected TVR tuner and gave 215 bhp. I don't think it gained 20 bhp overnight - all rolling roads are going to be different
