Found these whilst mooching around trying to decide what I'm going to do to improve the ICE in my Gti.
They look idea, but not sure if they can be shipped to the UK or whether the shipping cost would be prohibited.

Not had chance to read the whole thread as in work at the mo , but will have a closer look later and maybe email the supplier.
Other option I guess would be to have a go at making something similar myself! :undecided:
Cheers. :)

I like the one around the spare wheel thats basically invisible with the carpet in. I wouldn't bother buying it though, pretty easy to make yourself if you are practically minded. Just need to get the false floor extension from VW and make your measurements from that.
Hurdy has a decent install he built himself.

have a look at this, the resident mod did it with an excellent write up too

What is the false floor extension when it's at home?
I've seen the Hurdy install, but not sure I can be bothered with all that messing with glass fibre - I really like the idea of the underfloor install. I love stealth!

The spare wheel in your boot under the carpet is a space-saver ie. a narrower wheel. You could stick a full-sized/proper/normal wheel in there but because it's thicker, it'd stick out the top of the section. You can get a 'false floor' from VW. This comes in two parts and means when fitted, you can stick a full-sized spare wheel and it won't stick out.
I love stealth!
Er thanks?

I really need to see a pic of one of these false floors.
And er, you're welcome.

Audioscape probably do a mk5 stealth sub install by now. UK company so no crazy postage/import fees!

I looked at the options of doing either an arch install, a spare wheel well install and a stealth install around the wheel well like the one's shown on the OP.
I ruled out the well surround install on account of the fact you can only reasonably get an 8" sub around it and you do lose a considerable depth to the boot (approx 5"). It also means that when the rear seats go down you have a large 5" ridge sticking up which makes the space more awkward.
I also ruled out the wheel well install on account of basically losing the spare wheel and tools. It was a tempting alternative though.
The arch install was an obvious one to go for as it only meant losing 3" at one side of the boot and most of the useless volume of the arch is used in a really effective way. The sub box I made is easily removeable too  At some point I'll be moving the amp to the other arch out of the way too (thanks for the reminder )
Given the same choices I would do the same again

Most important think for me is stealth and being able to return the car to normal without any messing. I may just go for a std box in the boot to start with as I have done it the past. Velcro it in and it'll come out fast as I like! :) I had my last Rockford 10" sub, box and amp for 10 years, moving it about between cars, but I ended up selling it with my last car. :( It made a lot of bass for the size.

Before I did the arch build I too had a sub box in the boot. Good sound but a pig to live with day to day.
IMHO I don't believe that anyone really needs more than a good 10" sub and a decent amp for great bass in a GTI
