I only remember seeing one Mk5 Gti with the Recaro seats when I was looking for my Gti, I love them - they are similar to the ones in the VXR Corsa.
I would love a set but don't expect they would be an easy or cheap retro-fit. :(
So who has got them?
Oh, and has anyone tried retro-fitting them?
Cheers. :)
-
Top cat has them in his gti
-
Do you mean these ones?
They do indeed look the nuts ! But if memory serves they cost something silly like £1500 plus trying to get them in :(
-
They look mint with the tartan inserts.
-
Ive got them in the RS4 VERY similar to the R32 buckets... SOOOOOOO good to look at and SOOOOOOOOOO comfortable. BUT if youre a "big" lad you will struggle
And,
The bolsters wear like crazy though.

A dealer near me has a red 5 door manual with them fitted, they are nice and after you get used to high front lip they are quite comfy. But as chrissy states if your a big chap you will struggle.
The way to reduce bolster wear is to always slide the seat back when entering and exiting the car, I 've doen this on my cars with these type of seats and it does reduce wear and tear...until it goes into the dealers and they can't be arsed... :undecided:
They had sold the car but the buyer didn't like the recaros and asked if they could be swapped, it came back a no due the amount of labour and farting about that it would require to swap them with the standard seats.

These sorts of people need executing at birth
-
dont think they do the interlagos type recaros anymore :undecided: unfortunately!

I so want a set of those - I've fitted some buckets in other cars and they really do give you more confidence when pushing on!

they gave me so much back pain that it was one of the reasons i sold it.
-
These are a must for me in the R32!

Don't think I have. : :undecided: I'll have a look. Last car I fitted them to was my weekend/trackday mk1 Eunos Roadster (MX5)

Nice - but do they restrict access to the rear seats?
Cheer.
-
Yes very much so only racing snakes can get in there.
-
Got Leather Recaros in my wife's R32. For the GTI though, I think the Tartan Recaros look    and I reckon VW should have put them in the Edition 30.
-
as above , the ed 30 should have had them tartan recaro s , they are the daddies
-
Mine is the only Mk5 Gti I've ever seen with the Interlagos, not leather Recaros.
-
^^^^^^^^^^ R8 Reps?
Correct. Altough they might not be reps they are R8.
-
on the 3 door versions,...how do you move the seats forward? is it in these high backed holes to the right (or left) hand side of the head rests?
look cool...and would really boost the driving (around the twisties) experience me thinks...

Yup, me too:

The bolsters wear like crazy though.
I think that depends on how 'disciplined' you are when getting in and out. I have my seats on the lowest setting, and always try to 'hover' in sideways, then when I am fully over the seat, droping down into them. My bolsters havn't got any wear.
Oh, some really cool coloursceme in an RS4:

The matt colour on the back of the RS4 is much better than that of the golf recaros imo. I would scratch the hell out of them as I have a habit of throwing stuff on the rear seats.
-
Cor - that old geezer's jacket's lurking in the back.....

Just what I was thinking!
The Tartan inserts look awesome, but the back needs to be plain matte...
