I know it does'nt really matter (or maybe it does) But after doing naughty things like chipping etc, we are all very suprised at the gains we have gathered!
But i was more shocked to be able to leave a saab 9.3 turbo behind all the way up to ***mph!
Then again powers not eveything, the driver could have been a) rubbish or B) just letting me carry on, but saying in his "mind i'd piss all over you, young chap")
anyway how suprised have you guys/girls been????

Did a Subaru WRX off the lights last week. (Covered him in soot in the process) Not a happy bunny as he comes in our shop!!! ;D

i bullied a beamer 328i on a nice and wind country road at the wknd, he was a flash harry w a n k e r!
me and the dub sorted him right out :D

Be careful of Civic Type-R's. Used to have one and once had a boy racer try it on with his A3 Turbo. The CTR just left him standing, much to the annoyance of the A3 driver.

letf one on the way down to London on the A40 from Cheltenham, (lovely road) 50 miles of no cameras and overtaking abilities! so he had loads of chances but then it could be:
A) i'm cheating cos i'm chipped
B) the ctr driver didn't wanna push his car
C) Didn't know the roads
D) problems with his car
E) or thought whos this dick in a Golf GTI
but i won any ways so there :P

I murdered a CTR yesterday, the first I have come across - I was very surprised by the ease of it.
In fact a Saxo VTS gave me a better race!

BMW 323 but only just, guy got away from me at the lights but then diesel torque kicked in and was in 3rd from 30 up to 80 i think.
A merc E320 pi$$ed on me on the way home from uni on friday night, i was following him and had my foot to the floor but he was going away from me.

guy in a 330 saloon wasn't happy i passed him on a crawler lane on the way home from jabba today so gave chase, couldnt catch me up till i backed down at about 130. Probably would have taken me if he didn't have an entire family's luggage in the back, 3 kids on the back seat and wife in the passenger seat. They were all laughing and clapping.. totally irresponsible driving like that with kids in the back IMO.

Don't normally bother racing cos my car's not the quickest (0-60 in 9 ish)!
Still quicker than most suped up chav cars though! 8)

Managed to take some old dude in an electric wheelchair. Was tight, but finally got him on a blind bend.

Oh yeah
I was coming home from Kung Fu last nite, was knackerd, so i'm driveing nice n slow!! then some chavs pull up one behind me and one next to my pride n joy!! now cheltenhams quite a small town but theres a lot of long straights (with loads of traffic lights i must say) :(
Anyway, side car was a bm dunno what it was it was all dun up, lowered, de-badged, exhaust so lound i couldn't hear me smooth tunes(most pissed off) be hind me was one of those renualt sport things.
First set of lights, i didn't bother, they took off relised i wasn't racing so slowed down with me, (leave me alone i'm tired man!!) :'(
second set of lights well i dunno cos they were stuck there and I was round the corner!!! ;D

But as for beaten? Well, lots and lots of PD150's for a start. They do always insist on trying (the 16v badge on the grille seems like their own personal red rag), and well, I do always insist on smacking them down with a quickness. It seems that low down torque diesel owners witter on and on about really is no substitute for good old fashioned power.

He clearly wasn't trying, as a CTR has 30% more power and 25% less weight. A properly driven CTR would crucify you mate.

So, that would be the same as a PD 150 then. Therefore the torque of a PD is no substitute for power, because it already has as much as a mk3 16v. The difference is, the diesel throws out 75% more torque, which is why the in gear times of a PD are roughly half of what yours are.
Instead of just whining on about how your car is great and everyone elses is cack, try turning up to a meet once in a while. Lets face it, if what you're saying is true, you'll be the one with the smug grin on your face, right?
As for what I've beaten, well, you've all seen that yellow rocket car......
It might have 2000lb's of thrust, but its no substitute for good old fashioned bullsh1t

Not that i'm saying that diesel golfs are the be all and end all 'cos I have one (130pd) because they aint, but they do seem rather quick and to me seems as quick as my old Leon Cupra (180). Can't be arsed to race anymore but would feel pretty confident in passing or at least keeping up with a MKIII 16v. And you do get 550+ miles to the tank!! Still miss my Sierra Cossie though (but not the blue smoke it left behind).
And what is a CTR?

I did leave a Porsche Boxster S (3 weeks old)standing in a Royal Mail lorry at a set of lights in central London recently, mind you I had just smacked him up the arse and his motor was undrivable oops! ;D
Type R's are quick but I think you have to work them quite hard though, but they are surely faster than a MKIII 16v aint they ???

I started this thread about a month ago and must say I am trully pissed off with the chav's around Cheltenham that wait to see a GTI ,GTE etc etc, then pull out catch you up them either pull aside you or rev like crazy behind you !!
I had one behind me revving, I could not be bothered (i feel i'm more chilled now) I moved off normally and he shot off an nipped my bumber he stopped i stopped, WAS I PISSED (now i know i shouldn't have done this - and i don't act like this, ) but I walked over to his car pulled him out of his seat and asked him " why the f**k do you want to race with every car you see ??" i'm just driving home you idiot theres no need!!.
Well to cut the story real short , His mate owns a garage, and sorted my bumper looks better then new!, I'm now friends with this (I still think he's a chav (a good chav)) and he has slowed down which is good.
BUT I in no way condone pulling people out of their cars it was stupid and wrong of me, if he had a gun i'd be on a laptop in heaven or he could have reported me to the police GBH !! :-\ He did understand though, why i was so angry and i got my bumper sorted so lesson learnt on both counts. ;)

You have a martial arts background like me don't you deadlock ? It's a good thing the lad didn't take a swing at you, tempers are hard to control in those situations even if you're usually as calm as a hindu cow.

yep, but what makes it worst is that with a MA background, when you do something like that, you feel like you've let your whole club down and your training that you've done for years.

me and Rich blew away a S2000 with the 20v in the mk2 until the rear arch came loose again so we had to slow down >:(

Christ mate I'd be gutted if I drove a PD 150 in that case. All that extra torque and those "stunning" in gear accleration times, yet it has serious trouble keeping up with a 16v. A PD130 would get raped. And it still belchs out smoke and sounds like a taxi.
Guess diesels are still the thrifty option then.

All these GTI 8/16v may be faster in a straight line or round a racetrack but its the 'real world' driving that really matters and for that surely the in gear acceleration of these PD's far out performs these standard petrol cars.
I've had Leon Cupras and an old Sierra Cosworth and allthough faster tear arseing away from the lights they require a lot of work and gear changing on the move to get them going.
People who aint driven a GTI PD should as I think they would be pleasantly suprised. But as allways we all have our different tastes. Petrol/diesel, We will all have to agree to disagree.

lolol, This thread is so funny, so much bullsh*t coming from some people.
My 20v golf wouldent beat much, its more for comfort. Where as my slightly modded Corrado vr6 has takein out a few cars 328, 330 integra type r, audi tt's and every large bodykitted nova or saxo i have ever come across,They look so sad, as they know they simply dont have a chance. either on the curves on the straight. One thing that is funny is theres always some mk4 golf diesel up ya arse, damm some are quick. Can usually put them down though. Will change the 20v golf to a diesel one sometime.

you can't say that you've beaten anything unless you both agreed you were racing and then it should be on a strip or a track and not on public roads.

Ok I'll think I'll have my say regarding the 16v vrs PD diesel debate. Having previously owned a standard Ibiza TDi 130 Sport (the same 130PD engine as a Mk 4 GTTDi 130) and now a 150bhp 16v, I can say that there is not much in it overall (even though they are like chalk and cheese)... about town (off roundabouts and out of a junction) the diesel is quicker but the valver is faster on a straight and at higher speeds when above 4.5k revs (ideal for blasting past someone in third on the m'way at 80 - ***)
So it swings and roundabouts really...... whatever "wins" is dicatated by the above conditions (and whether both are really trying / any good).
