I don't know if this is the norm or not but when i press the acceleration pedal the first 1" - 2" of travel don't seem to do anything, then the power comes in, can this be adjusted? if so how? also seems a bit rigid!
It has been sugested by another user that the accelerator cable has seized!
Any advice on changing this, is it straight foward?

throtle cable is reasonable to change. To adjust it, there should be a flat spring clip attached to dhe white nylon part of the cable at the engine end. gentley pull on the outer cable while holding the throtle closed, there is a series of grooves in the nylon part, remove the thin sping clip and move it to the groove nearest the rubber stop. dont pull it to hard as it will cause tickover to raise and rev its nuts off. To change the cable, take btm dashshelf off above ya pedals, stand on ya head and reach up to top of pedal. Cable has a hook on the end which pushes through a rubber on the top of throtle pedal, then go under bonnet and pull it through, removing the gromets as you go. Re fit is reverse of above, make sure you refit the gromets in bulkhead, wet carpets if ya dont.

Cheers mate, How will I know if it needs a new one or needs adjusting? are there any signs or is there a set amount of tension?

Checked it out last night! with the bonnet open I gently press the accelerator pedal and I had movement straight away, so it seems fine!
Must be another problem i have then :( it's in the garage on monday, will let you know
