Title: 8v digi timing
Post by: Veedubgt18v on 14 June 2004, 18:14
i have just done the timing on my 8v digi j plater, using a strobe gun. before i set it the v shaped groove on the flywheel (i painted it white) was at the front of the hole you view it thru, almost out of site. i rotated the distributor till it was in the middle of the hole.

is this ok? or do i need to do anything else. i had to rotate the distributor about half a centimetre round, i forget which way tho.

ta ed

i'm not sure how its done........ what i do know is that once its more a less spot on the ecu retards and advances the timming! ie so it doesnt matter if its really bang on!

and as far as i know you can only time it at idle!

Silly question, but why did you set the timing - surely this was done during your rolling road tune @ AMD ???

they didn't tune or diagnose anything, it was just reading of power figures
