Just got my renewal from Direct Line and the excess has gone up.
I called to ask and they said they have had a lot of claims on the GTI.
I've been phoning around anyway and I tried greenlight and admiral for a quote, not great much difference, anyone know any other decent cheap insurers?
-
I am with Elephant and they were the best I could find.
-
Admiral for me.
They tried the usual trick with the renewal being more expensive than last year. Gave them a call and got the story about lots of claims on GTis. However, after 10 mins haggling the price came tumbling down...
£265 fully comp, inc class 1 business, £350 total excess. (I'm 31/8 years NCB/low risk postcode)
Just get on the phone and haggle with them!

Wow, that is a good price and much cheaper than mine!
I hope it never happens to you but I wonder if their claims payout is easy and hassle-free.

Wasnt me, still in one piece is mine. Cant see how other GTi's crashing puts your insurance up what the fudge has that got to do with you?
I always do a search on confused.com or moneysupermarket.com and compare all the insurers.
Mines £1100, not sure on the excess (22 y/o with 4 years ncb)

I tried haggling, only £50 off.
My sister was with elephant, had a nightmare with them. In fact they are part if admiral.
-
i tried admiral & elephant who on the "searches" came out cheapest until you ring them, i ended up with halifax, £565, 27yrs 3yrs NCD
-
Its all those extra Edition 30's that VWs been trying to get off the road
-
I'm with DL and no claims as of yet.
£1000 with 2yrs ncb.
-
Im with elephant, 27 (26 when took out policy) with no no claims, £650 a year
-
Not so much people crashing... Id say financial instutions papping themselves due to credit crunch and passing it on to us...
Ohhh..
And all the pondlife running round with NO insurance who when they do ge caught get a piddling fine MUCH less than insurance would cost anyway!!!! NO f**kING DETERENT!!!!!!
-
Swift Cover and Esure were cheapest on the comparison sites for my ED30
Swift were less than £300 for basic fully comp
-
I'm with MoreThan. After haggling, best quote was £296, £400 excess, Bus1 insure, I've had 2 windsceeen claims, FNCB, legal Cover.
Online, their quote with same claims/cover was £283 and £350 excess.
So I let my old policy expire and took out this new one. Plus if no claims for year on year they give 20% discount at every renewal.
-
I think I'm going to switch to Greenlight, anyone had any experience with them, says my policy would be underwritten by Highway.
-

I got a quote from the yesterday as mine is due up in March. My god, they where very cheap.
21 - 1NCB - London address £950
Bare in mind that this was just an online quote and id expect it to go up once we get the finer details but that is much much much cheaper than I expected.

Iam insured with direct line and i got my renewel through this morning. It was a nice surprise for a change, £290 less than last year. I now pay £605 both me and my wife are 25 with 5years ncb for an 08 Edition 30. I think they have put my excess up by £100, but apart from that iam quite chuffed with that.
