Title: Wont start no petrol.
Post by: Jade86GTi on 16 December 2008, 21:15
Hi people got a starting problem with my 1600 cl. standard 2e2 carb. Cars been stood awhile
Got sparks but no fuel coming through. . tried fitting a new fuel pump but
even when I pump it by hand no petrol arrives in the filter. No real smell from pipe going under car.
Any suggestions  :embarassed: And yes theres new petrol in it.

Hi the small plastic filter looks ok you can see the element expand when I pump it by hand. Id say its wet but no petrol getting this far.
Thinking theres a block under the car or in the tank its self, but never messed with a tank.
My old gti had a electric pump by the tank but this 1600cl just has a mechanical pump on the engine and thats new.

or is the new little filter on the right way round ???

some i have seen have a little one way valve in them to stop the fuel returning to the tank when the pump stop's
