RDC510 Head Unit and AAC
« on: 26 May 2023, 08:42 »
Morning all I'm a newbie to this so please be gentle with me, I recently bought a MK6 GTi 35 it's a lovely car but one annoyance that I need to resolve is the DAB head unit that is a RDC510, I don't seem to be able to receive any DAB+ AAC broadcasts does anyone know of a way to get this resolved preferably without buying a new head unit because I'd really like to stick with the original equipment, regards Chris

Is it definitely a DAB version?

If it is, I guess there is always the change that the previous owner installed it but didn’t install the DAB aerial

Seems there are a few versions, guess it depends on the part number.

You can get firmware/software updates from eBay, either the disk or a download that you’d need to burn on to a disc… not to sure how confident I’d be on the latter though.

Alternatively, albeit more costly, it might be worth a visit to a VW dealer to investigate.

Worth a note, RCD510 DAB seem to be shifting on eBay for about £170/£200 at the moment. And about £400 if you want an RNS510 DAB.

Might be worth looking in to the RCD330 as that has CarPlay/Android Auto. Just make sure it’s a genuine one and not a cheap copy.

Sorry me again I just want to make sure that if I find the right part number it doesn't matter whether it's from a Polo a Tiguan or a Golf, it will fit, TIA Chris

Same aerial. If the part number is the same then any vag vehicle will be OK.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.
