Folding mirrors
« on: 10 December 2013, 13:47 »
I was looking through the thread on sound actuator and revenge was made to the actuator being dropped for post build week 45 on UK cars.

There was also a reference to foldable mirrors and iPod cables and the build week.

Are the mirrors folding on lock/unlock being changed? Are they in their way in our out?

The folding mirrors now work via the remote unlock/lock key.
BW45 + cars are supposed to also come with the iPhone5 MDI cable although mine didnt...

Thanks. Prior to that build week, how did they operate?

On ignition on, the mirrors unfolded iirc.

So, rather than unlock on turning the ignition on/off it now does it on lock/unlock?

Prior to BW45 the mirrors unfolded on ignition and folded on lock.  Since BW45 the mirrors now unfold on unlock and fold on lock which makes a bit more sense if you ask me.

The handbook for cars built pre BW45 (well based on mine anyway) states that the "puddle" lights operate when you unlock the car remotely; however they don't because the mirrors don't fold out when you unlock.  So IMO to comply with their own handbook VW will need to install a fix for their pre BW45 cars...

And what would be the point of the puddle lights coming on once your sat in the car with the ignition on... you'll already have wet feet...

Please remember that common sense is not all that common. ;-)

VW are trying, sorry, I mean that they are trying hard.
