What annoys you about your MK7?
« on: 13 November 2013, 17:56 »
Ok i'll start!

1) Very poor fuel consumption, nowhere near book figures. (DSG)
2) little to no urgency in D too much in S.
3) inconsistently pulls away after restart, sometimes instant, sometimes takes forever.
4) With the chassis in comfort, the long travel on the shocks sometimes makes them knock.
5) Can't set the reverse sensor display to be off by default so always covers the left side of the camera image.
6) had to turn the auto front sensors off as they go nuts when a vehicle is along side roundabouts (park assist)
7) Squeaking rear brakes when reversing off my drive.
8) Quite poor brake performance considering it has PP abd never seems to use the rear brakes as the back wheels are always clean.
9) DSG box can't make up it's mind what gear to be in round town stop start traffic.
10) Rattle from passenger side door area.
11) Shocking finish of sealant under sunroof.
12) DSG box seems to take ages to kick down and then slumps before taking off.

I'm sure i'll remember some more but it's a great car!!

Good grief that sounds bad, I'm picking mine up on Wed next week, pretty similar spec to yours so I'll let you know if any problems arise! Still no MDI lead

I get number 7 Jimble, every day - v annoying. Also, the red collar lead doesn't connect to my phone v often, no biggie but annoying (use an sd anyway).

It does seem most if your niggles are DSG related - I'd order an R mate, put up with this for 6 months living in the knowledge you'll have a faster, manual car!

I think a lot of the problem is down to our expectations being so high. Like all mass produced cars.these days, they are built to a price and corners are cut that most people other than us enthusiats wouldn't notice.

We all expect everything to be perfect. I'm sure that the reason I've been married so long is because I kept my expectations low and let all the bollockings go in through one ear and out the other. Mates that expected.too much and didn't get it, so looked for some greener grass are fecked and broke now.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I have a completely standard car and don't seem to have any of the problems you're having. Mind you, you have DSG and a sunroof. As for the economy, I wasn't expecting any more than the urban fuel consumption. I never got even that on my Mk6 TDI overall either. At the moment the best I have achieved is about 34mpg, but then I've barely hit 500 miles. Overall consumption is about 30, I expect you're getting up to 5mpg less.
