vw suspend new orders on some cars
« on: 08 March 2022, 18:04 »
It appears that some VW plug in hybrids will not be able to be ordered from Wednesday for the some time because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and VW stopping Russian production and chip shortages. Those already ordered are subject to delays and may not be delivered until next year. This includes the Golf plug in hybrid. At least VW are supporting Ukraine unlike Peugeot.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

… however, more positive news for those forum members with one or the other on order, Ferrari and Lamborghini have pulled out of Russia so that might free up a few build slots for other markets to get one fractionally quicker
The cynic in me wonders whether they’ve pulled out more for economic reasons (nosedived Ruble and oligarch cash flow issues) than political solidarity.

Because of this:

Funnily enough I was listening to an industry/financial analyst on the car wireless (excuse pun) the other morning talking about that issue.
It’s nice to see the compassion of BMW management there in that link. Rather than stating that the Russians had decided to murder the suppliers’ workforce and that people should instead just thank their lucky stars, we get the emotion of modern capitalism "Due to supply bottlenecks, interruptions to our production will occur,"
Well, at least the factory buildings should be safe, they tend to look a bit different to houses and hospitals.
Heaven help anyone in Western Europe inconvenienced enough that they can’t take their lockdown dog on a 50 mile round trip to take a sh!t on the beach in their new luxury SUV.
