Title: Car of the Month
Post by: joesgti on 11 September 2008, 14:23
just like on UKMKIVS they have a car of the month and have a company sponser them, every month people post pics of thir car and each month is a different theme, and the winner wins a prize from the company who sponser it.

im sure if ukmkivs can do it we can, scene as this one is growing so fast

just an idea and would be abit of fun

I dunno, good idea but I'm not sure it's in keeping with the spirit of this place. Besides who wants to copy the other forums idea when everyone on here seems to think that other forum is wack!

You mk5 boys would need to come up with something special to win that one though I reckon.

I think Joe has a great idea.

It can get some competition going as there are a lot really amazing dubs on the forum. And perhaps go with a different theme every month or topic to make it really interesting  :nerd:

I know, having a really nice Rallye and a pretty cool camper does that to people.

Scene tax is where they bump the prices up of cars or parts etc because there is a "scene" that goes with the marque. e.g. plastic trim £2 in scrapper, £15 on a forum like E38.

well if its not hosted or linked to in the Mk5 section they wouldnt win often

We are a friendly bunch though  :lipsrsealed:

Perhaps we could get in contact with some detailing companies, car tuning companies etc to get prizes which will also introduce new people to the forum and possibly really get the forums name out there.

Thanks Topher.

The MK5 guys are also doing a calender for next year and perhaps we could use some of these pictures and Car of the months for our own Golf Gti forum calender.  :nerd:

Jord. The pics are not restricted to only Mk5's for car of the month. And the calender we are making is for our section. If you want a calender then create your own one for th MK1.

If you spent more time in the MK5 section you will see that a lot of work has gone into our cars to make them unique. Much like the Mk1 is unique.

just satin like, 12 mk5s on qcalender would bore me immensely, infact any calender with the same car be well boring. And I don't venture into section5 much as past time I did my posts got deleted an phil threw a wobbler!

And car of the month sounds very commercial to me, an IMO wouldn't be fitting with he organic nature of this here corner of the interweb!

Happy pills don't work on team grumpy.

You'll need high class strippers/hookers, many cool boxes full of beer/cider and a wedge of cash to sway those fellas.

Hello guys

Alrighty. I may not have have a car (and I admit the GTi belongs to my mom) but at least I am able to contribute to this forum in a positive way unlike many of the other gents here who merely cause trouble. I dont see the big fuss about me not having a car? I know a lot of members who look in the MK5 section and they dont own MK5's. Its the same thing no?

I dont have my drivers license yet and as a 17 year old I dont want a GTi as a first car because the Mk1 and MK2 are almost non existant in South Africa (and according to this forum they are the best so I would want one of those even though I mock them) and the MK3's are driven by the (lowly couloureds with their Barryboys spoilers and neon lights- no offence intended) and the MK4... Well why would I want one of those??

I have been on this forum for almost 2 years now and I like to think that even though I dont own a car yet I can contribute and this is one way I can. I currently own two businesses with one dealing with car detailing, and the other with promotional goods and branding of a variety of products and as a forum member (and as the MK6 is taking over) I think the MK5 guys who are die hard fans (Well most of them are  :lipsrsealed: ) might want something like a calender which I can supply.

But much like most threads in this forum this one has gone completely off topic. The topic is car of the month. Not "MK5 calender" or "lets slag mike off cos he doesnt have a GTi". So does anyone else have any other critism positive or negetive about having a car of the month section which could allow members of this site to win prizes etc?

Maybe a poll should be created?

Mike

Lola Ferrari and Pamela Anderson. Its the same thing really.

What has it got to do with the original topic? Nothing.

If I buy a Smart car then who cares? You are not the one driving it and I quite like the idea of a car that can get 560 to 700Km out of a 33 litre tank. I quite like a car that has a factory fitted Bose Sound system. I quite like a car that has a 4 out of 5 star safety rating which most cars at its price dont have. I dont quite honestly see the obsession some people feel that makes them comment on what other people want. And I would like a car that wont break down and that is very comfortable and practical as in my business I will spend most of my time in that car.

Lets stay on topic please guys. Im not interested in hearing about how Ghay the Smart car is. Irrespective of your opinion Im still getting one.

isnt a smart car like THE most dangerous thing to have a crash in ever? I swear fifth gear did some test on it involving instant death.

They tested it at 88mph and crashed it into a 4 ton wall. Even if you were in a bus or a top of the range merc you would have died as your body connot handle going from 88mph to stationary in one second. Whats important is how well the car stood up to the opel corsa that they also crashed. Smart is german. And i trust german engineering. Mike

08micsta, fair play for sticking up for your mums car and how envolved you are in it and this forum, but you should learn when to quit!

and as for:

team grumpy's response? well, the response was so harsh i had to mod my own post.
