Good luck with the A/C project  It'll be worth it though, I just popped out in the 'sat and the car reported a warm 21C outside... inside was baking! Thank goodness the A/C works perfectly

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Looking forward to this....

Corrado's originally never left the factory with air con did they?  Wasn't there a seldom used dealer option where you could have an aftermarket Diavia system?... BMW and MERC did them too for a while.

Yours will be a very rare air con model indeed.

Bang on - which is another reason to fit the air-con.

I think having a VW tech sharing the barn is going to be particularly helpful in the next few weeks.

Especially as he's just got an AGU that he wants to fit to his Golf Syncro and has asked for a hand and has already said my welding looks better than his.

He must be short sighted.

I have seen a mk1 with after market air con once... Really messy setup though.   Yours should be a little more straight forward and surly worthy of some fresh thinking scene points.

Removed the dash and doors from the Cordoba yesterday evening.

Good session this evening: engine and 'box out, heater matrix and chiller unit out, loom out, car stripped of all other useful stuff and pushed outside, ready to go to the scrapyard tomorrow.

The aircon set up looks like it might not be horrendous - there is a plug on the compressor, a pressure switch on what I assume is a reservoir and then a complete loom on the matrix assembly.  What will make or break this is whether the set up bolts up under the Corrado dash.

So nice stripping a car in the relatively warm and dry, with good-ish lighting.

Aircon is easy DH let me know if you want any info, do you have enough room in the Corrado its tight enough in there already and run a dual alternator plate to take the fly wheel for the compressor?

Shouldn't need to do this - the Cordoba had air-con so it's compressor straight off there, hopefully with everything else that goes with it.  The stuff inside the car looks transplantable, but that'll only be confirmed when I hook the matrix and blower out of the Corrado - looks hopeful though.

Dispatched the remains of the Cordoba to the scrapyard earlier, as well as the left-overs of a Vitara.  Now have lots of Cordoba to sort and nail into the Corrado over the next few weeks.  What could possibly go wrong?
