Cunning tools.

I will probably only use a two bits of these:

The VAG terminal tool
The flat-blade screwdriver

The damned thing I need to eject the wires from:

Push thin tweezery things in either side of hole.  This depth is easy:

But you need to penetrate as deeply as possible - ALL the way:

Getting that deep takes some pushing.

Once it's all the way in you just pull (quite hard) and the terminal comes out the back of the connector block.

Speedo drive, ready for application:

Kinda.  This is so I can either re-loom the motor that's in there at the moment, or swap out motor and loom together.

The issue with the last set up was that it was an early loom and ECU and late motor.  The two didn't seem to get on and the loom didn't seem to get on with the Corrado fusebox at all.

The most important thing is to get everything on the Corrado working spot on, as it won't pass an MOT without working ABS now.

The other thing that was behaving strangely when it was taken off the road, was an odd resonance from the engine at certain revs, after the front sub-frame was replaced with a Golf3 one, when the lower control arm securing bolt sheared off.  I've now sourced a replacement Corrado sub-frame, so that should resolve this odd issue, along with everything else.

Oh and of course, the Cordoba has 280mm front stoppers, which will go straight on the Corrado.

So, the first step in an engine conversion is to do something pretty much unrelated, so yesterday I took the Cordoba out to the barn and took the engine out of the Vitara that's been littering up the barn WAY too long.

What that meant is that there was a spare space out of the eight vehicles that can easily fit in the barn, so the Cordoba is now inside.

When I was driving it out to the farm, with the sunroof open and the air-con on it did occur to me that it has air-con.  This is something the (black) Corrado doesn't have.  Thus, not only is this now likely to be an engine conversion, it'll also be an air-con installation, as I hate hot cars, but The Wife loves black cars.  This way we should get a cool, black Corrado out of this.

Now, as part of this holistic project I need to finish the SJ work.

Well it's there and I do hate sitting in cars sweating in the summer.

Especially black ones.
