Hi,
Just thought i'd drop a new post on here about insurance of the new mk 6 GTI.
I'm 26 (Last week) with 3 points & 6 years no claims. I was expecting my insurance to be well over £1000 when i bought the GTI and to my suprise my insurance was just a smidgin over £500 with the company that Iggie pop promotes.
How much has everyone else's insurance been for the new GTI?
-
£2100 for me but then again i am only 19
-
£300 for me. Lower insurance is one of the few good things about being old
-
33 years old, 3 points, 11 years no claims. A shade under £400 for me. conning g1ts!
-
Oh the joys of having a few more years on your back
-
£1300 for me.
points do not = prizes :embarassed:
-
My quote was £242 only £5 dearer than the quote for my 2.0 Tdi that I ended up going for.
Being 40 does have its advantages dome time
-
£300. Would be gutted to have to pay some of the silly prices some of you guys pay.

I have a quote of £276, 10+ years NCD, decent postcode, no points, 38 years old.
I almost passed out at reading someone was paying £2100 to insure a Golf!
Hell!
Fair play, your devotion to owning one is more than mine would be.

Jeez, a £24k car at 19!!! I had a seven year old Scirocco when I was 19! The insurance cost a third of what I paid for the car.
I'm the wrong side of 40 now and still struggle for a £20k plus car.
-
I work hard so i thought why not
-
We all worked hard to get the GTI... so at 19... you must be very lucky...
-

£790. 33 years, 1 year NCD! :) but I've been driving only for 2.5 years

Remember guys if you go via www.quidco.com (http://www.quidco.com) you will get cash back depending if your insurer is listed with them.
I went with More Than for my present policy and got £60 back but I see it is at £100 just now.
simonpolly if you had went via quidco you could have got another £70 off your premium. Which would have meant your insurance would have been £158. Not bad for GTi insurance.

+1, I tend to do a search for a new poplicy every year (a la confused), then go to quidco to see what cash back you get. The combination of the two tends to determine this years policy. Also, I don't know whether you get cashback on subsequent years with the same company if you go via quidco. So I always change company anyway.

Am I having a senior moment - HTF does that quidco work?
-
I don't use quidco that often, unlike many so I may be a bit rusty. However I think you need a PayPal account. If you clear your cookies (computer not larder) and follow the links via quidco's website for anything you want to buy they (quidco) will give you a variable amount of cash back on your purchase through their referral commission.
That's a very simplified version of events!
-
You dont need a paypal account, mine just gets paid into my bank account every month. It is basically a referal site, they get money if you visit a site and buy thru them, its exactly the same system as confused.com only confused would keep the affilate fee but quidco.com gives it back to the punter. There are some great bargains to be had. I use it all the time.
-
I don't worry about clearing cookies, I just use a different browser for quidco purchases.
