16valve conversion, whats it worth?
« on: 27 July 2009, 12:26 »
Hi all,

Am just trying to assess what this is worth before i decide wether to break it and sell the bits separately?

I've got....

16v kr engine, freshly overhauled and rebuilt. (with brand new 0 miles clutch)
gearbox for above (mk1 gti output shafts fitted for easy mk1 driveshaft usage)
16v exhaust manifold (homemade but solid, fits to standard mk1 system)
16v ignition loom
16v ignition ecu
twin dellorto 40 carbs
throttle linkage for above
inlet manifold for carbs
fuel pump for carbs
fuel filter/regulator for carbs
all engine ancillaries

I'm sure theres bits and bobs i've forgotton, but its basically everything needed for a mk1 twin 40 16valve conversion.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Engine with all ancills - £120
gearbox -£50
inlet mani + carbs and linkage £100
ignition loom + ECU £20
pump and regulator - £30
homemade exhaust manni - £worthless

job lot - £250

thats my opinion mate, good luck with the sale!

carb manifold and linkages worth more than £100 normaly.  dellortos often go for a bit more than webbers as they do work better

id say as a job lot, £350 - 400.
thats considering that the engine is fully rebuilt, as said a home made exhaust manifold is worth nothing really as it could possibly be a hinderance to power...

if i wasn't going vr6 id have been happy to pay 350 all day long

90% of manufavtured exhausts arent better than a welll made homemade item, there just made to fit in the hole
