16 x 7s on my mk1

i still think the current 15x7 on my mk1 are a bit big so ill be going for 14x8/9 steffan bcws with a bit of judicial arch rolling :)

if youve got them at home try them on

i ran 16x7's at the front anf 16 x 9's rear here on my cab. Altho the fit wasn't great (they needed 5mm spacers) they were a temporary try off my brothers mk3. And looks amazing!!

don't worry about them being 14's.. they still look just as nice! :)

they wont fit directly, the centre bore is too small, rover is 56.1, VW is 57.1.

You'll need to bore out the hole in the centre of the wheel.  What I would do is get some 16mm hubcentric spacers inside bore of 57.1, and outside bore of 56.1.  This kills 2 birds with 1 stone, not only will they fit but the offset will be low enough to fill the arches out nicely.  ET45 is far too low fro a VW, might even hit the shocks!  With 16mm spacers the ET will drop to 29, much better :)

IMO, stick to 15s max on a mk1. Personally I'd just polish up your le castellettes if they are 15s, but each to their own but it really does depend what look you're going for, wide and stubby, euro, big bumper, little bumper, chrome blah blah.
^i personally agree with this since going from 17s to 15s - much better drive, handling..
