£3500 for a 1.4CL, is this correct?
« on: 11 May 2010, 16:46 »
I don't have a license yet but I'm just looking about for a rough price that I might pay if I had a Golf 1.4 CL. I got quoted £3500 for the year if I was 18. I used MoneySupermarket which is terrible because of commision but I didn't think it would be that expensive. Would anyone know how much I would really pay.
Thanks, Ryan

My CL's £130 a month. I'm 22 but not had my licence a year yet, due to running about on bikes before
Project longterm Airbanger.

Quinn were the cheapest but they have gone into Admin so no more drivers can get policies with them (I think).

Ive got a 1.6 Astra and its 2600, If I got a Mk2 1.8 GTI 16v its 3600. Then 2600 in 4 months (1yrNCB)

Deffo shop around a bit.

Age 17 - just passed test - mk2 1.6 - car value: £300 - Insurance Price - £1800 with LV.com

Age 18 - Driving 1 year (1 year NCB) - Mk3 2.0 16v GTI - car value: £1600 - Insurance Price £1400 with bell.co.uk

Age 19 - Driving 2 years (2 years NCB) - Audi A3 2.0 tdi - car value: £8000 - Insurance Price £1055 with endsleigh.co.uk

It will go down, and it all depends on the area you live etc.. but if you shop around you can get it down :) Mine has gone down every year so far despite the cars getting quicker or higher in value each time around.

Thanks a lot for the help Dec. It really has given me a rough price now for insurance when I turn 17 and I'm absolutely chuffed with £1800 for a 1.6 on my first year. Thanks again

Thanks Shady, I need all the help I can get at the moment. I think I'm going to stick with Golf's as they do look cool when they're lowered. I will have to make some quotes about for a MK3 1.4CL.
Cheers Guys.
