PD150 Blue Smoke

Back story......Problem I had was poor starting. Diagnosed as weak fuel pump. Fuel pump replaced. No poor start.

But now, I have quite a blue smoke problem. Smokes quite a bit on start up. And also on idle. Cant seem to see any when driven normally. Car drives spot on, boosts very well. Turbo has done 60k, EGR delete fitted.

I'm thinking either....

Injector seals due to higher fuel pressure because of new pump?

Valve stem seals?

Turbo oil seal?

Some other problem?

Help! Not sure where to start......

First thing i thought while reading this was injector seals.
How many miles are on the car.
The pd heads where where the injectors sit on the right had side. Letting the oil seep past the seals. New seals normally sort it.

Is this a hard job to do? Garages seem to be knocking around the 400 quid mark.

Ive done them. You have to set up the injector angle. Or your suppose to.
New stretch bolts to the rocker arms and such
If its 400 all in from a garage i wouldnt think thats bad.
If you can get hold of a dwell meter. Think thats what its called you should be able to do it. I take your mechanically minded.
If not ide pay the garage

Righto, this problem is now solved.

The higher fuel pressure from the new pump caused the smoking due to bad injector seals. New seals were sourced by myself then fitted for a cracking price of £80. The injectors were then set up to the correct depth aswell. The bottom seals on 2 of the injectors had totally perished. And the oil + fuel seals on 3 were buggered.

The car is now smoke free, pulls better, starts better and better fuel consumption. Winner!
