Title: 1988 8v gti questions
Post by: George_HH on 22 May 2003, 11:48
sorry to ask but........what injection system would this year golf have? same question for an 89 was there a change? basically a description of the various systems used and dates, pros, cons etc...

also is there a guide or similar anywhere on how to change the gear shift bush that stops reverse being selected unless its pushed down as mine is quite worn and can be slipped across if your too heavy handed - i've got used to it but my dad drives the car occasionally and it worries me!

much appreciated. GH

You will either have the K-Jetronic CIS or a variation of it, or it will be the Digifant system. Engine code PB use the Digifant system that is fully electronic.
This may help you identify which system you have:-

re your gearshift problem , you need to replace the plastic ball and housing at the bottom of the gear stick, its a bit fiddly but its only about 9 quid for the kit, theres an article in the june issue of The Golf , tells you how to do it .let me know if you cant get a copy.
